We miss the tight knit community with unique homes on beautiful land. The schools are great and the town is welcoming. Time slows down in town, which is great for day to day life, but you have neighboring communities with a lot to do just minutes away. You can even head into New York for just the day. I wish there were better breakfast places around me because the one's that are are not my favorite.. I do like the pizza places and how there a lot of restaurants open until late coming from a town where everything closes before 9pm. My children are active in sports and have been exposed to different teaching styles that have improved both of their skills in football and softball. Our family is involved in raising money for special needs children to have a playground built for them to enjoy as an all inclusive project. There are two high schools in WInsted, with a rivalry going back decades. It's an old town, with multiple mills, with one still running! Over all the town is not very diverse it mostly white and very Republican. Most of the neighbor are very friendly and nice. There are few neighbor that don’t believe in picking up after their dogs do their business on other people lawn which I would say so far has been the only negative thing about the town.... The friends you meet at the corner store, the church, or even the local Christmas tree farm are ones for life. Not only that, but it's gorgeous. A very small town, definitely in the woods, but it's so beautiful. The fresh air and the fowers in the summer, or watching the snowfall in the winter. Either way, it's a place to fall in love with. Everyone knows everyone, which is really sweet. There are many different outdoor attractions nearby, such as waterfalls and state parks. Current Resident: Sharon, CT. consider to be a small town and have a population of almost 3000 people. It is about 5 mins from New York and 15 mins from MA. Local Fire and EMT are all volunteers. Current Resident: My family and I have lived here for 10 years, and have 2 young children in Botelle. This is genuinely a wonderful town. It is somewhat remote, but idyllic in setting and feel. There is no local work, ( unless you want to open a business) and you will have to travel. Norfolk is however, the type of town you want to raise your family in. The school has lost a lot of funding from the state, but teachers and staff do genuinely care about student well being, and the town is no different. Current Resident: I've lived in Morris my entire life. I've attended James Morris Elementary School and went to the local high school Wamogo Regional High School. What I've liked about living in Morris is the community of people who live in the town. Having support from the people who live around you is like having an extended family. What I would like to see changed is more recreational activities for the teenagers who live in town. The town does a great job with bringing together younger kids like swimming lessons at the town beach, family movies on the lawn by the elementary school, story time in library, etc. Although I did play sports in high school, I never had anything to do over the weekend or at night. It would have been nice to have a place to meet up with friends after school like a coffee shop, a place that held dances or clubs that brought together students with similar interests and did different activities.... They have flourished both as learners and as human beings in their ability to think critically, problem solve and self-reflect. The brilliant melding of Montessori and IB and the devoted and skilled faculty at the school creates the perfect school for the 21st century. The Upper School (grades 5-8) is a particular gem with small classes sizes, excellent differentiated math program, advanced design classes and project based learning that gives them the competence and confidence to come out of 8th grade prepared for any high school of their choosing.
