Current Resident: I love Hell's Kitchen. This area is rich in diversity and community and you can always make a friend here. The options of cuisine are unlimited and very affordable for being in the city. We are also so close to the water - which is beautiful when you want to walk along the West Side Highway. Most apartments in this area are affordable and still large. However, I would like to see more transportation options, like a train station offered. As well as more efforts to clean the streets.... Current Resident: It's a very certainly located neighborhood, you're close to midtown and downtown respectively. There's a vast variety of dining options as well as bar's, sometimes on the weekends the bar's can be annoying however. It can definitely be a friendly neighborhood with a "small town" feel to some extent, my local dry cleaner, deli, bar, restaurant and pharmacy all know me on a first name basis and generally know what I want without having to ask me. Current Resident: What I like about Little Italy is that everything is convenient or at your fingertips, I would say. The supermarkets, the laundromat, the grocery store, the discount store, beauty supply store, restaurants, parks are all nearby and at walking distance which is very comfortable. What I also like is that you feel safe anywhere in this neighborhood. Either during the day, evening or night time there are always several lights and people outside. Current Resident: I've lived in this neighborhood for 30+ years and it has most everything I seek in a community. I came here knowing nobody, and relatively quickly built up a strong network of neighbors, friends, acquaintances. It's walkable, affordable, accessible, diverse, and tight. I raised two kids here and sent them to city schools where they got a strong education and met terrific people. I've changed jobs numerous times, but have always walked to work. I am a few blocks from a gorgeous, well-cared for park. And I rarely need to drive to get to a restaurant, live music, or community gathering. It's a quintessential urban community.... Nearby Resident: The East Village is a Residential and commercial neighborhood in South East Manhattan. It's home to a lot of young people and college students. There are A LOT of incredible restaurants and businesses here, so if you're looking to not have to take the train for date night or a fun day out, EV is the place to be. The neighborhood is safe but I would avoid going East of Avenue B. There isn't really much over there It's Alphabet City is pretty poor and has some gang activity at times. Current Resident: It's the best city in the world! I love the energy, the hustle and bustle, and the sense the anything can happen at any moment. I would, however, like to see in improvement in the cleanliness of the streets. I believe the city can come together and do more to get trash off the streets, clean up outdoor dining sheds, and make the experience of walking around more enjoyable. Nearby Resident: Honestly one of the best neighborhoods to live in in manhattan. It's got a lot of incredible businesses and attracts many people from across the city during the day time, but is also super quiet and peaceful during the night and one of the safest neighborhoods as overall crime goes. Great for young professionals, and for families and older couples as well. Only disadvantage is I'd say your kind of cornered to the North South and West by the river and some pretty boring industrial areas, but to the east is Greenwich Village which is great and great public transportation as well.... Current Resident: Probably the most socially and economically 'diverse' of the downtown wealthy enclaves. Visually appealing, less dense than Uptown and less isolated than Tribeca, it is a goldilocks area if you want a mid-density residential area which can easily take you to any other part of the city by walking or public transit. Families are attracted by the playgrounds, waterfront parks, Chelsea Piers and a strong selection of high performing Public and Private schools. Young people enjoy the huge casual restaurant selection and proximity to Flatiron and Hells Kitchen. Downside is narrow sidewalks of high foot traffic corridors and areas around schools on 8th avenue get dirty and crowded with tourists, workers, residents and commuters competing for space. Current Resident: I've lived the majority of my life in this neighborhood and overall, it is fantastic. I graduated from City and Country Middle School and am entering the Abraham Joshua Heschel High School. The Village is overwhelmingly liberal and there are many LGBTQ+ people living around because the LGBT Center is in the village. Sometimes walking past that area I feel uncomfortable because there are many homeless people living on that street. However, everything else is incredible. Current Resident: I go to school in the Financial District and it's a nice area! There's plenty of restaurants, both fast food and sit down, as well as convince stores. Former Resident: Fantastic neighborhood in Brooklyn. I lived here for 5 years - before the Barclays center was built and moved out just after it opened. Once it opened, the neighborhood got busier and had more commercial activity. Some of this was good (more food and retail options) and some bad (traffic, pedestrian noise). Overall it was a lovely place to live full of nice tree lined streets, diverse and friendly people, and great food/drink options. Close to trains (subway and LIRR) and the park. Great for families. Not so great for parking. Felt very safe here and had no issues. Wish I could afford to buy something, but it’s just so expensive.... Read 18 reviews

Current Resident: Great neighborhood to live in! Quiet and residential, but a 5-10 minute walk from Williamsburg which is full of night life and exciting events. Great neighborhood for kids with meany great schools and parks. Right by the water where you get a great view of the Manhattan skyline. Works Here: Love Downtown Brooklyn! I love that is it changing, growing and building. There are great parks now near the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. They are new restaurants in Dumbo now! I just do not recognize the area sometimes. It's a different feel now. Works Here: EVERYONE wants to live in New York, or at least visit New York. New York is a fun, energetic state/city. And Soho is for me one of the best places to be in New York! There are soo many job opportunities here in New York for you, especially in the modeling industry, or the media industry. New York is a modern state, Soho is the same. Here you can be whatever gender you want because here, we are open to every single gender because we know the importance of accepting all genders and giving all of them the same opportunities that they need! Going to school here is a pretty good choice, there are schools for the science and technology field, schools for kids who work and study at the same time, good old public schools and private.
