Neighborhood in Jersey City, NJ
Current Resident: We live in the Waterfront District in a Harborside Apartment with 2 children enrolled in the zoned Ps.16 school. This place is such a gem, it gives us close proximity to Midtown, NYC, excellent public transport via PATH or NY Waterway or locally the Light rail at our doorstep. It is a walkable city, everything is within walking distance. People are friendly and enough quality eating options around. We enjoy the fresh air, family friendly community, the views of the Manhattan Skyline, the people, the vibe, the school and how close it is to NYC without having to put up with the pollution, noise and risks to safety. We are a family of 5 children under 5 and it has been a safe, welcoming fabulous city to raise our children.... Read 2 reviews

Current Resident: If Jersey City has earned the title of most diverse city in America, then Journal Square is its crown jewel. The area is a mix of some historic charm, new high rises and development, and a lot in between. Although green space is lacking, there are a few pockets in or nearby such as Canco Park, Leonard Gordon Park, and Pershing Field. The access to NYC is amazing: you can reach downtown NYC in about 10 mins, and midtown in about 20 mins. Lot of change happening as part of all the development — hope this will bring more retail, services, and walkability for residents.... Read 19 reviews

Current Resident: Growing up in Highland Park, I have always felt a strong sense of support within my community, which has allowed me to push myself to accomplish goals that I would have never dreamed of before. I appreciate how my town continuously finds ways to appeal to everyone's needs and encourages our voices to be heard. Not only do the local businesses and schools go out of their way to make people feel safe, but our teen center also provides us with their guidance when it comes to personal issues and questions. My town is a place where I know I feel safe and accepted. Though this may be the case for me, I personally know others who have dealt with serious bullying in my community. I would like to see my town change for the better and address bullying properly. They have held pep rallies in schools to address this issue but I believe much more needs to be done. I would like for our town to take preventative measures about this issue in hopes that fewer kids will fall victim to bullying.... Read 47 reviews

Current Resident: Lots of families. It’s a lot of diverse families. Seems to be trending as a neighborhood for people leaving the city or Hoboken. It is just on the cliff over Hoboken so easy access. Friendly mostly. Our neighbors at worst keep to themselves. It’s walkable. Decent for riding a bike too. There’s lots of neighborhood things going on. There are a number of parks with many events and sports for kids. Riverview park has a farmers market for half the year. Central ave is, well, the central avenue. Lots of local shops and many ethnic foods and grocers. The trash is awful though. It’s my biggest complaint about the neighborhood. I can deal with dangerous drivers but the trash is really sad to see when you walk out of your home. It’s a combination of people just littering without any regard for what that does, the trash pickup basically dumping trash in the streets every couple nights, and the city only cleans up downtown. Getting into the city is pretty easy.... Read 63 reviews

Current Resident: Secaucus is the perfect location for families, especially those with parents working in the New York City Metropolitan area. The town provides many events for kids as well as adults to emphasize the idea of community. Education here is exceptional with fun work opportunities for kids starting at the age of 15. This suburban is quiet and small with amazing views of the city skyline. Our own little island, as I like to call it because we are only connected to other towns through highways. Our mayor is nothing short of amazing providing so many town events such as the street fair, talent shows, firework celebrations, and more. Secaucus is the place for families to grow and thrive.... City in New Jersey
Current Resident: I've grown up in Jersey City, and there are many things I really love about it, such as its proximity to Manhattan and the easy access to the big city across the Hudson River thanks to the PATH train. I also appreciate the vibrant downtown area and the beautiful marina I've ridden my bike beside for years alongside my family and friends. Additionally, there's the expansive Liberty State Park for family cookouts and picnics, and much more. It's quite a charming and welcoming place. Diversity is also something remarkable about Jersey City, constantly hearing people around you talking in their native tongues and admiring different traditional clothing on the streets. If there was something I could change about this great city, I would hope to get the community more engaged with each other by having more yearly neighborhood events. This way, we can meet and share with our neighbors and create a network or a "Jersey City family."... Read 327 reviews

Walmart is 5 minutes drive , there are gyms close by, new restaurants, a beautiful Park (hudson park) that offers a nice and challenging run or work out with ample space and tennis court. Alot professionals people mixed with college students going to rutgers etc... Its 15 minutes away to Newark Airport... Its a beautiful town... Traffic can be a pain in the butt sometimes, but that is not that bad. I have lived in Brooklyn, Queens, Edison, Metuchen and have access to all amenities but I miss Harrison to be honest. Current Resident: Fort Lee is a phenomenal borough to reside in. Located just outside of New York City and providing access to many other close areas of interest, Fort Lee is busy and always interesting. My favorite aspects of living in Fort Lee are the food and how close-knit and kind the community is. Home to some of my favorite eating establishments, Fort Lee offers amazing cuisine from many different cultures and walks of life. However, I would say that the only negative part of living in this are is the traffic. In the more urban area of Fort Lee that is closer to the George Washington Bridge, residents always seem to be impacted by commuters utilizing our town as a shortcut to their destination of New York.... Current Resident: I absolutely love my home town! Cliffside Park is so small but has everything one could ever need. It has great restaurants, fantastic schools, responsive police and many more things. My favorite event that occurs in my town is during the winter. In the winter there is always a little Christmas festival in which honor students from the high school dress up into characters and take pictures with the kids in the town. The town also lights up every tree in the town center which makes it feel even more magical. Not to mention there is always great hot chocolate and food trucks! It is also super rare to hear that there’s crime going on in town since everyone is very close to one another and we all have each other’s back. Current Resident: A small town of one square mile and a population of just over 20,000. This town boasts popular Korean restaurants and cafes, with plenty of foot-traffic from those of other cities and towns. It is a relatively safe place to live and usually quite uneventful. The parks or schools don't have the most state-of-the-art facilities or appearance, but whatever the town lacks is nearby. With plenty of express buses to NYC and local buses to anywhere else, the public transportation is one of the town's most redeeming qualities. Overall, not a bad place to live.... Read 38 reviews

Current Resident: My overall experience in East Rutherford has been out of this world. I moved here 4 years ago to start a new life as a high school student. Coming from a poor neighborhood East Rutherford was like heaven. I have never seen such a community so caring, friendly, and clean. Neighbors help one another when needed and it's unlike my other town. The school districts provide transportation needs to those who cannot find a ride to school. There are tons of busses willing to pick up your child to get them to school safely. In this clean community, crime rates are extremely low and police keep the town extremely safe. Also, the high school I attend currently has truly shown me the "High School Musical" experience I was searching for. I was involved in many clubs like Student Council, Paw, Girls Helping Girls, Multicultural, Key Club, and many more. With the help from my teachers, I am passing with a 3.7 GPA. I've learned new things I tell all my friends from this amazing town.... Read 30 reviews

Current Resident: We have lived for 20 years here and have sent both our kids though the local school system. Our son who is special needs has received incredible support from the schools. Even giving him town payed for collage level courses at a nearby collage while supporting his extra needs. Having lived in NYC and North Jersey before moving here, I was surprised they called this 'Urban' in the rating, it defiantly is much more classic suburbia. Most of the streets are small and winding which keep the traffic speeds down and reduces chances of accidents. There is a flock of wild turkeys living in the nearby woods and deer and other animals are not an unusual site. There are malls nearby and the Town Library (which is first rate) is just across Kings Hw (not a 'highway', just named that) with pedestrian traffic lights to make it reachable by foot. During Cov19, with many people checking up on each other and always giving (safe distance) waves as walking and bike riding is very popular.... Read 6 reviews
