Current Resident: I enjoy living in Downtown St. Louis. This is my first experience living on my own in a bigger city. I am originally from Springfield, IL. I'm enjoying Downtown because of all the different cultures and the restaurants I can walk to. I enjoy walking to the Arch which about four blocks away. I sit down there and reflect and look at the river. It is very peaceful and pretty during the blossoming months. The only thing I would change is to bring another NFL team here. I know the Rams don't want to come back but maybe another team. That will be awesome. Sad to see the XFL go.... Read 5 reviews

Current Resident: Wonderful historic area near Budweiser Brewery Architecture is amazing. Dining is top notch and the variety can't be beat. I'm a Chicago native and this feels like a tiny slice of big city living, but homey. Everyone is super friendly ready to help their neighbor immediately. Not a lot of kids. Lots of dogs and cats and fur-parents of all ages. This is an area where people go for walks or jogging along cobblestone alleyways, and some brick sidewalks. The homes built in 1860's & 70's with pride of ownership.all around. Beautiful parks and live music on summer nights. Crime is near-by, so do lock your doors, keep your car doors locked or you'll find it was rifled through in the morning. Not so much dangerous, as annoying. Best spot in St Louis for travel.as all major expressways are right here. Mississippi is right here. We even have ghosts. Look up Lemp Mansion!!... Read 9 reviews

Parent: I give Community School my strongest recommendation. I am an alumnus of Community School and I also, currently, send all three of my children there. I believe Community is one of the best PreK-6 schools in the US. There are many things I love about Community School, but some of the highlights include: 1) Nurturing environment: The teachers and administrators are committed to showing each child that they are loved and valued members of the school community. They are very careful to give individualized attention based on students' unique learning needs and attend to their social emotional development. 2) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity: Community has a unique commitment to teaching children to be inclusive and kind to every person. They devote significant time in the curriculum to teach children respect for one another. 3) Lunch provided! (Who has time to pack lunch?). My children are healthy, happy, responsible, inquisitive, and kind because of their time at Community School.... Read 18 reviews

Current Resident: While I have lived in the Central West End and Lafayette Square, I now reside in Debaliviere Place and enjoy living in this neighborhood more. It always feels safe to walk around as there are plenty of people walking day and night and loads of dog walkers. There is a good mix of ages of the people who reside here. Forest Park is my backyard as I can walk right to it. The surrounding neighborhoods are also close and only add to the overall feel of the area.... Read 2 reviews

Current Resident: My wife and I love the neighborhood, our original set of neighbors were mixed 50 good 50 not bad but not good either, most of the "meh" neighbors have moved out and with each move a new young couple or person has moved in and done a lot of work on their house and property. This has added a friendlier group on our street and corner. Furthermore, in all directions, there is Forest Park to the North, Tamm bars, microbrews, and restaurants 1/2 mile to the East, McCausland Restaurants, grocery store, and 2 movie theaters within a mile to the west, and the Grove and Maplewood are not far away to the South.... Current Resident: I love Shaw! My husband and I are transplants to St. Louis and bought a house in Shaw 3 years ago. It was a great decision! We love the character of the houses, the friendliness of our neighbors, and the location. You can't beat being right next door to Tower Grove Park, the Botanical Garden, restaurants on South Grand, Shaw Dog Park, and easy access to downtown and the other great city neighborhoods. Current Resident: I have lived here for 12 years. People are active and walking, riding, spending time outside. Prior to the pandemic we would have block parties and area food trucks would be in the neighborhood almost monthly. Many have returned multiple times. Parent: My kids have been attending Basis since before the pandemic, and we are so impressed! Rich academic curriculum, good inclusion of the arts, excellent opportunity for differentiation based on student needs. The teachers are dedicated and so are the parents to the kids' success. While the administration has been bumpy as the school has gotten established (only 5 years old), they earned their stripes during the pandemic. Organized, safety-focused and diligent about communication. We supplement school with sports leagues and scouting outside of school, which many parents do. Easy to do given the extensive choice you have in the DC area. Also appreciate the international study body with impressively bright students from all over the world. A real meritocracy, unlike other private schools that admit based on VIP status or connections/donations. In the next few years, this school will only continue to advance its place in the rankings.... Read 53 reviews
