Current Resident: Loring Park is not a friendly community. I haven't figured out why. But, if you like a variety of eaterys, then there's plenty of night life, restaurants and coffee shops. The lifestyle is good, and caters to those that have jobs, cultural, education and a pet friendly environment. This area is great if you need to ride the bus, not too congested for street parking yet shops and stores are close if you prefer to walk. The community is best for single adults or those with no children. But, daycare and middle schools are postioned conviently avaliable for those individuals with families. A safe place to reside with a diversity of ethnicity throughout neighborhood. I like living here in the center of cultural, arts, and theater. To me its the best of city living.

Current Resident: It is a super nice neighborhood, and I have been here for 8 years. However, a lot more luxury housing is going up and overall, a lot of us low to middle class income residents are being pushed out due to the increase in rent (even in buildings that have not be renovated).

Current Resident: I absolutely love living here! Everyone is so friendly and active with biking and walking so available with the lakes right nearby. It’s close enough to uptown for some night life and fun activities on weekends but also tucked away enough so that it’s peaceful and quiet when you need time to relax at home. Great quality of living especially for young families. Only problem is that divesrsity definitely needs some work.

Nicollet Island - East Bank

Current Resident: Nicollet island is historical gem hidden in plain sight on the Mississippi River crowned by the Grain Belt Brewery sign that's been there lighting up the Hennepin Avenue bridge for many many years. Surrounded by parks and water with Downtown Minneapolis is just across the bridge. If you like a quiet place to enjoy a walk hit the trails on the island and enjoy some nature. We've seen everything from deer to eagles and heck there's even several fox dens on this floating rock. The people of the island are mostly old school artsy types It's sort of the odd ball of the bunch. There is everything from an old movie theater on St. Anthony Main which leads to the stone arch bridge that's been converted to a pedestrian walkway and bike path with St. Anthony falls flowing below it. Somewhere between tomorrow and yesterday on the only populated island along the upper Mississippi River. I love calling this unique place my home.

Current Resident: Easy bussing to pretty much anywhere in the city. King park is great. In my neighborhood we've had a bunch of families with kids around the same age, and we've all kind of grown up together. It's a great environment. There are lots of pretty new restaurants that have been moving into the area recently, too, particularly on Nicollet. Lots of new bike lanes. Blaisdell gets pretty crazy sometimes during rush hour, it's not controlled well enough (one way, traffic lights instead of stop signs, and there's only parking on one side) but everything west of that is nice, usually very quiet. Very active community, local businesses active in the communities. Block parties and such are pretty good for those reasons.

Current Resident: Whittier strikes a good balance between walkability, location, affordability, and diversity. The area is mostly residential (mix of low-rise brownstones, duplexes and some single-family homes) but it's also surrounded by major business arteries on each side, giving the neighborhood feel at once both laid-back and vibrant. The neighborhood is highly walkable, and its location relative to the rest of the city is just about unbeatable: centrally located near Eat Street, Lyndale, Downtown, Uptown, Midtown Greenway, Wedge Co-Op, Minneapolis Art Institute, Washburn Fair Oaks Park, and the I-94/I-35 interstates.

The area feels safe, while remaining ethnically and economically diverse - it has the advantage of being an "established" neighborhood with many amenities, without having become totally gentrified yet. This gives it the charm which has been completely eroded in other dense Minneapolis neighborhoods like Uptown. Well, enjoy it before the yuppies take it over.

Current Resident: I love this neighborhood. It's a great blend of historic and new. It's very walkable with a co-op grocery store and plenty of restaurants -- and I swear there is a park or some sort of green space on every block. Saint Paul is like the Lower key, quieter twin of the Twin Cities.

Current Resident: It’s a beautifully diverse place to live, which I much perfer. There’s just about any housing one requires, from: Apartments, to Condominiums, to private housing, to Lower income housing, to Senior Citizens we have it all! Beautiful parks, Nature reserves, an abundance of lakes & more. We have crime like anywhere else in this country, but even living in the inner City is safe if you utilize common sense & safety as your guidelines, as in anywhere you live. Employment is abundant and opportunities are open to all here, if your willing to work for it. Shopping, entertainment, and most anything one desires is also abundant in most locations, even in our suburbs. Minneapolis is a great place for Families, Singles, Children of all ages,& Senior Citizens alike. I personally love that we live as Americans were intended to live...ALL PEOPLE of all races, creeds, genders, religions live, work, & play together in harmony here, at least most of us do.
