Current Resident: East Rock is a great neighborhood. Think tree lined streets with charming houses, lots of cafes, and less crime compared to the rest of New Haven. Most people who live here are young professionals, grad students, or young families. Other pros: it's close to downtown if you're looking for more nightlife/restaurants and East Rock park is a great place for outdoor activities. Rent is definitely more expensive than most other neighborhoods in New Haven but it's worth it for the above mentioned attributes. Biggest con IMO is that you have to drive 10+ min if you want to buy groceries for a decent price or do any other shopping.... Read 12 reviews

Current Resident: Wooster Square is a good neighborhood for most to live in. It has issues with traffic, noise and occasional crime, but the neighborhood as a whole has a strong sense of community. Many Yale grad students and young professionals live here, with a minority of homeowners and vast majority of renters. NHPS are pretty poor so families with kids usually above New Haven and opt for the suburbs with better ranked school systems.... Read 1 review

Current Resident: I moved here a year ago and love walking my dog around the neighborhood. Westville has a friendly, diverse in population with older couples and lots of young couple with children. It's clean, quiet, and lovely with mature trees and garden's a plenty. Like all areas some blocks are better than others, but I rate the neighborhood pretty high. I feel safe here also. Niche User: This area is close to great hiking spots, the ocean, and great restaurants/bars. There is a younger community due to all of the universities in the area (Yale, UNH). I live it a good area for a good price and am able to walk downtown in a short 10 minute walk. Having Yale University located in the city of New Haven, the streets are full of beautiful brown stones, old churches, and green courtyards. An overall great place to live for college students.... Current Resident: I truly think West Hartford is the best! I have lived in CT my entire life in many different towns and cities and this is by far my favorite. Taxes and home prices are a little higher than other places, but the way the town is maintained and the outstanding school systems and downtown make it worth it! There is a great deal of diversity, and everyone is extremely nice and inviting. Given the area West Hartford is located, this is a welcomed surprise. Current Resident: What I like about Stamford is simply the kind of lifestyle there is and how big it is. One place to compare it to is NY CITY because of the amount of things to do there. You can "Go Cart", Ice skate, and many other activities as well as hanging out with friends in downtown Stamford. Not only that but many public parks that you can bike, walk, picnic, play sports like basketball, swim, and even barbeque.Some of those places are Scalzi park, cove park with there beaches. As well as lone park. Other notable parks include, mill river park which is a great place for sight seeing and walking around, also Kosciusko park, cummings park and more! Stamford athletically is good because of the sports complex's like sports complexes, like Bobby Vs, also Chelsie piers that also has fields and courts but younger kids can swim there and gymnastics and trampolines. Visitor: Many outsiders frown upon New Haven, but I absolutely love it here. There’s plenty to do and explore as far as nightlife and attractions go. Best pizza on earth by far, and an overall melting pot of all sorts of cultures from around the world. Might even be worth me relocating to. Plenty more than Yale, by which has an absolutely beautiful campus I highly recommend exploring. Yeah, there are some bad sections but it’s like any other city. Easy access to NYC via a commuter rail, and incredibly walkable which I really like. Regardless of where you are coming from, definitely give New Haven a go.... Read 136 reviews

It is the best of both worlds because theres urban and rural areas that give the city life effect as well as the spacious privacy others look for. Current Resident: I love Milford so much. This has been my home for the past 20 year and I would not have traded it for any other place. I grew up in the school system and while my family was not upper middle class as most of the town is, I was welcomed and cared for by the community. I appreciated as I got older the opportunities Milford gave me. I was able to have safe and efficient transportation to school in college, I was granted various scholarships from community businesses, and the proximity to everything has been such an amazing experience.... The City is investing in its lower income neighborhoods like Waterside and the South End to make these areas more vibrant.
