#21 Best Places to Raise a Family in Massachusetts
Carlisle
Current Resident: Overall, Carlisle is a fantastic place to like. It's a small, quiet town with great schools and awesome people. Better yet, Carlisle is only a few minutes drive from larger towns and 30-40 minutes from Boston. Schooling is generally fantastic, however, diversity is a big issue here. I've found myself being the only colored person in the classroom, and every single teacher I've had from grades 1-12 have been white, except for 1. It's also expensive, with high taxes and housing values, but the current real estate market is on fire. Also, there's tons of trails and small roads to go hiking, running, or biking, with a beautiful state park. Carlisle's a safe, tucked away New England town. Things certainly get boring for teens and young adults, as there isn't really much to do, but proximity to larger towns with activities is nice. Overall, its a fantastic place to live....
