Current Resident: I moved to Macomb Township from Warren, Michigan around 8 years ago. I like how safe I feel walking around the neighborhood. I enjoy walking during the winter to get out of the house and move my body but it gets dark fairly early in the colder months. I like that some subdivisions have street lights so you are not walking in complete darkness. The school district for Macomb is Utica Community Schools. I attended Bemis Jr High, and Henry Ford the Second High School. I personally felt welcomed by staff and students when I first moved. The teachers all were qualified and passionate about their job. There was never a moment where I felt uncomfortable with any of the staff. The one downside to moving to Macomb was the traffic! I live near Hall Road and it gets extremely busy around 4-6:30pm. A lot of shops and restaurants are located on or near Hall Road which is a bummer but I actually learned a lot of back ways to avoid taking it.... Read 160 reviews

Current Resident: Sterling Heights is located in Macomb county and it is considered a suburban area. What I like about Sterling Heights is the diversity and the average prices of products (not too expensive but not very cheap either). There are many clean and nice apartments to rent or buy in this city. I have lived in this city for almost 4 years now and I never had a problem with our neighbors! Most people here are respectful. It's a quiet area and there are many stores around, specially grocery stores. There are many restaurants and cultural restaurants in and around the area, which makes it a really fun are to live in. Current Resident: Very tightly connected community where everyone is familiar with each other. I often see many people I went to school with or worked with around the area. It's extremely safe and I feel protected walking around my neighborhood at night, especially as the neighbors watch out for one another. Commute and traffic is not too bad, only during holiday weekends, but the highway is super close to my neighborhood so it makes travel extremely fast. I do wish there were more community activities that weren't just solely based on children and/or parents, as most of the attractions in the area are aimed at school-level kids. New people are welcomed here, there are multiple schools to choose from, with so many activities both through the schools and the village itself. There are park concerts, tree lighting, park improvements, camps, bus trips, physical activities like yoga in the park and karate; many times free or low cost! Right off I-94 you can go east to Lake Huron or even closer, lake St. Clair. Or you can go west and your 30 minutes to all Detroit has. Current Resident: Washington Township is a very family-friendly township. It is a smaller town so a lot of people know each other. The neighborhoods around are very safe and everyone treats you like family. It is becoming very built up with a lot of new restaurants and residential areas being put in. With this, it will draw more attention to people and possibly make it a bigger, more well-known, community. There is not a ton to do, but given the size, it will accommodate many needs and wants. I would like to see maybe the community coming together to try and help with the environment. Just try to make it a bit cleaner and more green environment. The school districts around are good, however, there is only one high school for Romeo Community Schools.
