Current Resident: Lynnhurst is walkable, close to Lake Harriet and Minnehaha Creek and the extensive Minneapolis trail network. Excellent bike shops, coffee shops, and restaurants. Public schools are among the best in Minnesota.... Read 7 reviews

Current Resident: Altho I love my Fulton home and the 1920’s architecture when we purchased it 10 years ago, this is rapidly changing, as remodelers and big construction move in and replace the once, very cozy Bungalow and Tudor style homes with these hideous, big-boxy ones, that have zero charm, and easily tower over their historic neighbors’ homes....or what’s left of them anyway. Secondly, with the continuing rise of robberies, mostly involving car break-in’s, smashing of car windows when necessary, and now the huge increase of stolen packages, brazenly grabbed right off folks front steps, Fulton is rapidly losing its appeal, at least for me. It doesn’t help morale that the police for our district 5, rarely show a presence in our neighborhood either, let alone investigate the above referenced crimes. We are not the squeaky wheel, so we don’t get much police coverage, even though we pay our taxes to live in decent and safe neighborhoods of our choice, too!... Read 3 reviews

Current Resident: This neighborhood is very beautiful and quaint. It is located near multiple lakes and has multiple little parks and coffee shops. It is a great neighborhood for anyone with a family or with pets. This area is close enough to the cities to make the commute to a city job breezy or an Uber from a concert cheap. I would consider the downside of this neighborhood to be the lack of diversity and the abundance of pets without leashes. There are many people who own pets here as well as many people who visit with pets. As someone in the area who lives with a person deathly afraid of dogs I have seen the struggle for them to walk outside without being harassed by dogs running wild. There does not look to be any effort to educate or encourage people to leash their pets in these areas. In addiction, the lack of diversity in the area has contributed to mistreatment of people very close to me that live in this area. I hope that these things will be improved upon in the future of this neighborhood.... Read 26 reviews

Current Resident: The Tangletown neighborhood in Minneapolis is one of the friendliest, most beautiful neighborhoods! From the numerous cafes and restaurants to the parks and bike/walk paths, everything you need is within walking distance. I grew up in this neighborhood, and have loved every minute. Current Resident: I currently live & work in the North Loop and love the walkability of the neighborhood - bars, restaurants, breweries, entertainment, coffee shops, it's all walkable & great for hosting out of town guests. There are a lot of young people in the area and it's always bustling at night and on weekends. I also love how close it is to the river and the walking/biking trails. That being said, living here comes at a premium and definitely isn't affordable, especially for the aesthetic warehouse-style apartments & condos (though there are lots of options and some super unique units, with great views of downtown). The area definitely feels safer than downtown, but crime has been on the rise recently.... Read 3 reviews

Current Resident: There are some awesome places in Northrop. The neighborhood overall is nice, but the area that borders the river/parkway is especially nice, as well as the commercial areas of 47th & Cedar Ave and 48th & Chicago Ave - many retail shops, restaurants, coffee shops (locally-owned Sovereign Grounds is the BEST, but there’s also a Caribou and Starbucks), an entertainment venue (The Moth comes here!), and a fancy Lunds & Byerlys grocery. There’s also a well-loved gluten-free bakery at 46th and Bloomington Ave called Sift. Crime is low compared to neighborhoods. It’s quiet with a residential feel. Many families and many dog owners. It’s nice to see a lot of people walking around the neighborhood throughout the day.... Read 1 review

Former Resident: Wonderful spot in Minneapolis and for my dollar maybe best location in all of south Minneapolis. Safe, off the lakes, tons of restaurants, and equidistant to multiple lakes, parks, Kingfield, Lynlake, Uptown etc. King’s Highway is maybe the prettiest drive in the city. Not cheap, but cheaper than living on Linden Hills side of Lake Harriet, and a better location if you actually ever want to go downtown/up Hennepin or Lake.... Read 2 reviews

Current Resident: Bryn Mawr is a lovely place full of kind, caring people. Most people are democrats/liberals and are rather forward-thinking. Though the neighborhood is not overly ethnically or racially diverse, we are generally welcoming to people of color. There are both an elementary school and a middle school in the neighborhood, both of which are good schools. There are also a number of shops and a church. The church is welcoming to all, and there are various other programs held there. Bryn Mawr is a very short drive or bus ride to Minneapolis, and the UofM-Twin Cities. We are a relatively quiet neighborhood, though we do have neighborhood-wide activities from time-to-time. The one complaint is that there are a few, and I mean very few, people who are not as welcoming to people of color, but they are, again, few and far-between.... Read 4 reviews
