Current Resident: Lovely neighborhood to live in. Neighbors are extremely friendly and are always greeting my family and I when we go for a walk. We feel safe walking here even if we go individually. The only problem are the Segway tours that occasionally come through. I feel uncomfortable having my house on literal display to nonlocal strangers but there is worse that could definitely happen.... Current Resident: You can't beat the proximity to both nightlife and the beach! Must-visit spots like Las Olas Boulevard, NSU Art Museum and Broward Center for the Performing Arts are just a few blocks away. The sense of community is strong here with monthly farmer's markets, food truck events and art walks encouraging residents to stop by for some neighborhood fun. The residents are diverse and mostly consist of young professionals and growing families. Some sketchy parts but once you're familiar with the neighborhood, you'll know which areas to avoid and how to get around safely. Traffic and construction are the norm (as in any big city) but if you work remotely and are able to walk to most places during the week you avoid it for the most part. Current Resident: When my dad retired from the military we kind of had it really rough. We were homeless until we moved in with my dad’s mom. In the beginning it was fine. Everything was cool and dandy, but then an altercation involving my abuela and my sister happened. The police ended up being called and were involved, my grandma ended up going to an institution to be evaluated. While she was gone my dad packed up all of our belongings and we then moved to Miami Gardens with my great aunt. After we were there for a couple months my mom finally found a house in the city of Sunrise in a neighborhood called Plantation Acres. My dad and I woke up every morning at 0400...in civilian terms four o'clock a.m., drove to the house built shelves, cleaned it up, etc. Basically made sure it would pass for inspection so that we would be able to move in. And eventually the day came when we passed or it passed inspection and we finally had a house. We weren't homeless anymore and have lived in it since.... Read 5 reviews

Niche User: Compared to the busier and more populated areas of Florida, I am very happy to live where I live. The crime rate is ridiculously low compared to Miami. Current Resident: Wonderful neighborhood where everyone is friendly. A great place to raise a family and extremely safe. Also, dog friendly neighborhood - they even have a pet parade each year! Current Resident: Love the community. Proximity to downtown, Las Olas Bvld and Ft. Lauderdale beach makes it very unique. A new Whole Food Supermarket will be opening in a couple a months only blocks aways from the heart of Tarpon River. Many unknown restaurants are located in the area. Current Resident: Flamingo Park offers pretty much anything. Playgrounds for children, great school system, Boys and Girls Club, gas stations, grocery stores, department stores, and restaurants. You will find all types of homes that range from mobile homes to million dollar homes, and every neighbor gets along fantastically. Close to the water, the train station, I-95, I-595, State Road 84, Route 7, and the Florida Turnpike. Friendly neighbors, amazing greenery (trees, shrubs, lawn, flowers), and no HOA.... Current Resident: I love the suburban feel to the neighborhood. Plenty of trees, green lawns and not many sidewalks. Most people keep to themselves; but there are also plenty of people you could find for dinner parties, barbecues and drinks. The neighborhood is generally very quiet other than some barking dogs and children playing in their pools. I feel it is a safe neighborhood; but I lock my doors and have an alarm system. The neighborhood is very centrally location to hospitals, supermarkets, restaurants, highways and the airport. Recently over the past decade gay Male couples having been making this home.... Current Resident: Sailboat band is one of the best neighborhoods off of downtown Fort Lauderdale that I would suggest living if you want to be close to downtown and the beach. It’s literally only minutes away. The neighborhood is quiet and safe in old Florida what more could you ask for. The new river runs along its borders and makes for easy access especially for people that own boats with no fixed bridges. This neighborhood is where everybody knows one another and it’s peaceful and quiet and perfect for morning or evening walks with the family or with your pets. I highly recommend this neighborhood not only because I live here but because of its assessability to everything including downtown Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale beach, the new river, the performing arts Center, Major roadways, Parks and preserves and so much more....
