Neighborhood in St. Louis, MO
Current Resident: While I have lived in the Central West End and Lafayette Square, I now reside in Debaliviere Place and enjoy living in this neighborhood more. It always feels safe to walk around as there are plenty of people walking day and night and loads of dog walkers. There is a good mix of ages of the people who reside here. Forest Park is my backyard as I can walk right to it. The surrounding neighborhoods are also close and only add to the overall feel of the area.... Read 2 reviews

Current Resident: My wife and I love the neighborhood, our original set of neighbors were mixed 50 good 50 not bad but not good either, most of the "meh" neighbors have moved out and with each move a new young couple or person has moved in and done a lot of work on their house and property. This has added a friendlier group on our street and corner. Furthermore, in all directions, there is Forest Park to the North, Tamm bars, microbrews, and restaurants 1/2 mile to the East, McCausland Restaurants, grocery store, and 2 movie theaters within a mile to the west, and the Grove and Maplewood are not far away to the South.... Current Resident: I love Shaw! My husband and I are transplants to St. Louis and bought a house in Shaw 3 years ago. It was a great decision! We love the character of the houses, the friendliness of our neighbors, and the location. You can't beat being right next door to Tower Grove Park, the Botanical Garden, restaurants on South Grand, Shaw Dog Park, and easy access to downtown and the other great city neighborhoods. We're planning on starting a family soon and will be sending them to the fast improving nearby public school, Mann Elementary.... Read 8 reviews

Current Resident: I have lived off Nottingham Ave for over a year. My car has never been broken into. I have been out and about at all hours of the night, and have felt perfectly safe. Which is criticql since I'm a health care provider who takes an enormous amount of call for a CathLab. My neighbors are fun, inviting, and outstanding hosts. It's a very pet friendly environment. Frances Park is AMAZING! Candy cane Lane and the surrounding neighborhood streets participation in Christmas holiday decorating makes it feel like I am living at the North Pole, and Santa is my next door neighbor. It literally looks like a Hallmark Christmas card. The shopping is convenient, the food is a Foodies daydream, and let's not fail to mention that Ted Cruz in the Summertime makes our area tasty and refreshing. I absolutely love South Hampton. It's truly the hidden diamond of St Louis.... Read 11 reviews

Current Resident: I enjoy living in Downtown St. Louis. This is my first experience living on my own in a bigger city. I am originally from Springfield, IL. I'm enjoying Downtown because of all the different cultures and the restaurants I can walk to. I enjoy walking to the Arch which about four blocks away. I sit down there and reflect and look at the river. It is very peaceful and pretty during the blossoming months. The only thing I would change is to bring another NFL team here. I know the Rams don't want to come back but maybe another team. That will be awesome. Sad to see the XFL go.... Read 5 reviews

Current Resident: Wonderful historic area near Budweiser Brewery Architecture is amazing. Dining is top notch and the variety can't be beat. I'm a Chicago native and this feels like a tiny slice of big city living, but homey. Everyone is super friendly ready to help their neighbor immediately. Not a lot of kids. Lots of dogs and cats and fur-parents of all ages. This is an area where people go for walks or jogging along cobblestone alleyways, and some brick sidewalks. The homes built in 1860's & 70's with pride of ownership.all around. Beautiful parks and live music on summer nights. Crime is near-by, so do lock your doors, keep your car doors locked or you'll find it was rifled through in the morning. Not so much dangerous, as annoying. Best spot in St Louis for travel.as all major expressways are right here. Mississippi is right here. We even have ghosts. Look up Lemp Mansion!!... Read 9 reviews

Current Resident: North Hampton is not full of bars and coffee shops, and hardly anyone rents here. It’s very hard to find a house to rent in North Hampton. I feel like this is the safest area inside the city of St. Louis. The neighborhood is clean, the neighbors know each other, lots of social events happen here such as the Joan of Arc homecoming parade and carnival. North Hampton is a place where you could walk down the street at night and not fear for your life. People leave your property alone. Kids play in their front yards! I came to the neighborhood form out of state. After looking for a very long time at surrounding areas, I’m so thankful we picked North Hampton.... Read 20 reviews

Current Resident: I’ve move to STL from out of state and have been living in the neighborhood for about 2 1/2 years. I have loved it! I love being able to walk to the park easily and enjoy the tons of restaurants/coffee shops/etc. that are walking distance. The people are friendly, the nature is beautiful…the list could go on. I personally have always felt safe living in the area but also am cautious with the typical city crime you would expect. Overall, I’m so grateful to have landed in this wonderful gem of a neighborhood!... Read 19 reviews

Current Resident: I have lived in Skinker DeBaliviere for 3 years. One of the best neighborhoods in St. Louis. Great neighbors and beautiful architecture next to one of America's best urban parks. Now, the East Loop and Debaliviere Strip are seeing increasing investment (including a grocery store) to make the neighborhood more complete. 3 light rail lines serve the neighborhood as well and will take you downtown in about 15 minutes. All of the institutions of Forest Park are within walking distance and a mid sized concert venue sits on the north edge of the neighborhood. The Central West End is a weekend stroll/bikeride away. Washington University and its lecture series offerings are next door. There really is just so much to do in such a vibrant and pleasant neighborhood.... Read 13 reviews
