Neighborhood in Phoenix, AZ
Current Resident: Moved here 12 years ago from Florida very happy its become a lot more diverse. it's one of the best neighborhoods in the Phoenix area. only 12 mins from the airport, 15 mins from downtown. located near I-10 and 202 so easy to get across town from here. My son has been going to school here since kindergarten now he's in high school -very good schools! lots of shopping close by: JC Penny, Kohls, Ross, Marshalls, Burlington, Target, 2 Goodwill stores, and so much more. very safe here compared to the rest of Phoenix. Several parks and hiking trails. Pecos community park has a very nice pool with slides and they have a shaded area with a ramada that you can reserve for a party free of charge. We have a seniors community center they also have a pool. Ahwatukee has a free shuttle that has a good route to get you around in Ahwatukee. The rent has gone up it used to be more affordable when I moved here. Other than that I highly recommend it for raising your children in a decent neighborhood.... Read 75 reviews

Current Resident: Paradise Valley is located in the perfect location, in between North Scottsdale and Old Town. It is a beautiful area with well cared for homes. Although in a major city, it has a small town feel with our own police and fire departments. The best part is its quiet and safe! I wouldn't change a thing.... Read 13 reviews

Alum: I would say it was overall a good experience. I was in this school system from K-12. Elementry and Middle school provided good teaching staff, extracurriculars, and resources for women in STEM. The high school experience was illuminating, with classes becoming segregated by class and race. The system was very biast and pushed certain students above those who historically had not attended college.... Read 12 reviews

Current Resident: Interesting, bustling, safe area. Lots of homeless people. I have 2 grocery stores within walking distance. Wish there were more places open past 9pm-11pm. 20 minutes to ASU. I immediately liked this area when I first saw it. This is one of the few areas in Phoenix where all the buildings are NOT a different shade of brown. We have pink buildings, purple buildings, blue buildings, green buildings, murals, palm trees, and even an artificial forest. Can see the mountains from any street in any direction. Bike friendly. Young professionals.... Read 3 reviews

Current Resident: Maryvale is community that has many resources for everyone. We have a lot recreational areas for the community to have a great time. Many people visit out public parks to spend a nice day from playing basketball, to walking their dogs. Also we have many dinning options to have a nice dinner with family and friends. Many generous people sponsor nice events, from health campaigns to fun activities or carnivals. I work at a school, and our parents are very committed to create a nice school community atmosphere. Alum: I really liked my time there, it was a very fun and challenging experience for me. The part that I loved about being at ASU prep was working independently in the hallway, English/Gov./ Econ., and Senior Seminar, which really helped me get ready for college. Also something that I really loved was the Mental Health days, in which the psychology class organized activities to help us relax during test days. The most challenging part was the school system, because I moved to the US on my senior year and the school system for high school is very different, but I had a lot of help from my teachers and peers, and that helped me get caught up with everything. A change that I would like to see would be lunch break, because I feel like it wasn’t enough to recharge and eat, so maybe a longer lunch break.... Read 77 reviews

Alum: I did not realize how well St. Michael's prepared me for high school until I saw how far ahead I was in comparison to my high school peers. St. Michael's taught me how to think, to write, to problem-solve, to speak up and draw my own conclusions, and to self-advocate. I am truly grateful for the foundation St M gave me!...
