Parent: We have had an amazing experience at Burgundy! Our daughter loves school and we find it to be a great balance of both independence and structure to help her flourish. The teachers are wonderful and focus on the whole child with education that includes academic, emotional and social development. It is a strong community that is supportive of students and families. We love how the curriculum ties into areas of interest for the children and helps to build lifelong love of learning and appreciation for the world around them. They are able to enjoy a lot of time learning in nature on their beautiful campus. We can't imagine being anywhere else for the K-8 experience.... Read 11 reviews

Current Resident: Upon first moving to New Orleans we lived downtown and immediately began casing the city for the ideal neighborhood to live in. Of course the Garden District instantly appealed to us because of the safety, walkability, and access to grocery stores, cafes and proximity to the streetcar. We waited until we could find an affordable apartment off of 8th and St Charles and have never been happier!... Read 1 review

Former Resident: This is a great neighborhood, for the most part people are welcoming and there is a strong sense of community. I grew up the area and moved back there when I had kids. As far as schools go, Lusher is the best public school in the area, but the high demand makes it rather difficult to get your kids in to that school. Overall, it’s still a great location. There’s plenty to do, with easy access to groceries, parks and the streetcar line.... Read 2 reviews

Niche User: As stated before, it is said to be the safest neighborhood in New Orleans. The homeowners in the area are all very well off with great careers including doctors and lawyers. Parent: The curriculum is strong, with students working above grade level in many subjects. Teachers set high expectations and then help each child achieve those goals in a warm and nurturing environment. Each day students’ folders are filled with the work that they have completed so that parents can be informed of their child’s progress. Any obstacles are handled at early stages and the child is treated with the utmost respect every step of the way. The emphasis on STEAM is helping to prepare students for a successful future. Every member of the staff knows each kid--not only their names, but their individual personalities. Additional benefits of ACE include smaller class sizes, character development, a uniform that minimizes drama in the mornings, responsive staff, and an exceptional facility. I am confident that my children have a strong educational foundation and love of learning that will serve them well going forward.... Read 7 reviews

Parent: Our 2-year-old has attended Merritt since she was 6 months old, and we would not dream of sending her anywhere else. Our experience has been magical. Merritt is not only her school; it is her second home. We truly feel that her teachers love and care for her as if she were their own child. The environment at Merritt is as enriching as it is loving. Even for babies and toddlers, teachers treat the experience like school--in the best sense of the word, with endless activities that are fun, creative, engaging and educational. On a practical note, the hours and holiday/weather closures at Merritt are better than any day care or school we have heard of. Merritt prides itself on serving working families, and it does. We have a somewhat unusual weekday schedule, and Merritt has accommodated us so that we can maximize time with our daughter. We send her to Merritt foremost for the loving and enriching environment, but the practical aspects have also helped us more than we can say.... Read 2 reviews
