Current Resident: I'm a single person living in Mac-Groveland and love it here. Within three days of moving in, most of my neighbors had introduced themselves, and a few invited me to join their weekly book club. My block has many families with young kids, but also quite a few retired folks and younger singles. I work from home and walk, ride my bike, and/or use the bus for most day-to-day errands like groceries. Violent crime is very rare in the neighborhood, and I've personally never even had packages stolen off my porch or anything like that. I am a small woman and feel comfortable walking alone with my dog at night. My only nitpick is the airplane noise, which can occasionally get a bit annoying depending on the current flight paths from MSP. But at least it's not as noisy as South Minneapolis! Former Resident: Without a doubt, probably one of the nicer (if not the nicest) neighborhood you could live in if you want to live right in the Cities. Having first lived on Grand after graduating from nearby UST, I can say with confidence that I quite enjoyed all that it had to offer from the wide variety of bars and restaurants, amongst plenty of other things nearby. Current Resident: Pros -Como Park! Plenty of recreation -Nestled between Mpls & StP -#3 Bus connects Mpls & StP -Protected bike path to the UofM <west & east> to Lake Phalen -Fewer lawns each year Cons: -Essentially a suburb; extremely low density. Few walkable shops. Nothing practical (grocery, post office, library, etc). We have 5 restaurants (3/5 are burger & fry joints), and 1 amazing coffee shop but no indoor seating. - Single-family zoned; little room for growth. - Car dependent; loud & polluted with exhaust, especially at the park - Only one protected bike path, no safe bike infra connecting N<>S - #83 Bus connecting N<>S has limited schedule - Lacks in diversity, culture & personality. Have you seen Pleasantville? While Como lacks in density, diversity and walkability, it exceeds in recreation opportunity! Whether it's the right neighborhood for you depends on your lifestyle. Historic homes, walking distance to grocery stores and great dining, and 5 minutes to I94 and 35E gets you anywhere in the metro in 20 minutes or less. Current Resident: Altho I love my Fulton home and the 1920’s architecture when we purchased it 10 years ago, this is rapidly changing, as remodelers and big construction move in and replace the once, very cozy Bungalow and Tudor style homes with these hideous, big-boxy ones, that have zero charm, and easily tower over their historic neighbors’ homes....or what’s left of them anyway. Secondly, with the continuing rise of robberies, mostly involving car break-in’s, smashing of car windows when necessary, and now the huge increase of stolen packages, brazenly grabbed right off folks front steps, Fulton is rapidly losing its appeal, at least for me. It doesn’t help morale that the police for our district 5, rarely show a presence in our neighborhood either, let alone investigate the above referenced crimes. We are not the squeaky wheel, so we don’t get much police coverage, even though we pay our taxes to live in decent and safe neighborhoods of our choice, too!... Read 3 reviews

Current Resident: Having lived in other parts of the Twin Cities, West 7th has been a great hidden gem. West 7th is a cool spot to live that mixes city vibes with small-town charm. You can check out some sweet old Victorian houses in Summit Hill and ride your bike to downtown or the capitol in no time. If you’re a fellow foodies and beer nerds will love all the amazing spots to eat and drink, like Keg and Case Market in the old Schmidt Brewing space. It also hosts an art walk in the adjoining artist lofts. Being close to all the Mississippi River trails offers a ton of stunning views. The bluffs and High Bridge are personal highlights! The community is full of friendly neighbors who are happy to help out. If you want to be part of a tight-knit community that's got a little something for everyone, West 7th is the spot for you. Current Resident: This neighborhood is very beautiful and quaint. It is located near multiple lakes and has multiple little parks and coffee shops. It is a great neighborhood for anyone with a family or with pets. This area is close enough to the cities to make the commute to a city job breezy or an Uber from a concert cheap. I would consider the downside of this neighborhood to be the lack of diversity and the abundance of pets without leashes. There are many people who own pets here as well as many people who visit with pets. As someone in the area who lives with a person deathly afraid of dogs I have seen the struggle for them to walk outside without being harassed by dogs running wild. There does not look to be any effort to educate or encourage people to leash their pets in these areas. In addiction, the lack of diversity in the area has contributed to mistreatment of people very close to me that live in this area. Current Resident: I currently live & work in the North Loop and love the walkability of the neighborhood - bars, restaurants, breweries, entertainment, coffee shops, it's all walkable & great for hosting out of town guests. There are a lot of young people in the area and it's always bustling at night and on weekends. I also love how close it is to the river and the walking/biking trails. That being said, living here comes at a premium and definitely isn't affordable, especially for the aesthetic warehouse-style apartments & condos (though there are lots of options and some super unique units, with great views of downtown). Former Resident: Wonderful spot in Minneapolis and for my dollar maybe best location in all of south Minneapolis. Safe, off the lakes, tons of restaurants, and equidistant to multiple lakes, parks, Kingfield, Lynlake, Uptown etc. King’s Highway is maybe the prettiest drive in the city. Not cheap, but cheaper than living on Linden Hills side of Lake Harriet, and a better location if you actually ever want to go downtown/up Hennepin or Lake.... Read 2 reviews
