Neighborhood in Louisville, KY
Current Resident: Lots going in and around the neighborhood. Deer Park is as walkable as it gets. I walk to one of two grocery stores, my dentist, my doctor, the vet for my dog, the hardware store, lots of bars and restaurants, Cherokee Park, Tyler Park, Willow Park. Or if I just want to talk for exercise I stay on the streets/sidewalks of Deer Park.... Read 3 reviews

Current Resident: This is a great area to live and raise a family. To the people that "Hate" the Weather here, they need to move! We've had an explosion of businesses at The Loop which had caused parking issues. I want to thank the City for painting the curbs yellow to curtail the parking and make it safe to drive. If you see a car parked in a Do Not Park Zone or Yellow curb call 574-7111 ext 5.... Read 442 reviews

Parent: Our journey began in Sprouts, then Early Childhood. The EC teachers created a space where my child felt welcome and loved. The daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythms changed our life. There’s meaning and intention in everything. Free play introduced social skills and problem solving. The EC program feels like your coziest blanket. Now in the grades, my child is an avid reader, making lifelong friends, and excited for school every day. The field trips are incredible experiences full of memories and skills to last a lifetime. Art and beauty are woven into every subject. Every child learns to ride a bike, participate in woodwork/handwork, play instruments, learn 2 languages, and recess is twice a day. Interacting face to face and growing relationships without screens is important to me. The community is diverse in many ways, which I love. I am grateful for this unique, old-world, future-forward education that’s developing my child as resilient, creative, and to think independently.... Read 5 reviews

Parent: Jefferson County Schools needs to go back to neighborhood schools instead of busing. The gripes are not because of diversity it's because of having to send small children on buses to a school many miles away. Some children are on a bus for an hour before they get home. Also, having to drive to after school activities and programs is a hassle. Parents want to get back to the convenience of neighborhood schools. It would promote for better community involvement Parents have to sacrifice to pay for parochial or private education, leaving them strapped and working extra jobs to make ends meet. Of course there are some good schools in the public school system, but you must be in that "cluster" and if not, you don't have a choice. The Magnet schools are difficult to get in to and others are by lottery. Otherwise, Louisville is a wonderful city to raise a family. Many people move back to Louisville because they miss it!... Current Resident: I love Tyler Park and not because I share my middle name with it either. I have a beautiful park right next to my apartment where I can take my two dogs on walks or just to play and meet other dogs. It has 5 tennis courts which makes it a lively place along with a basketball court and jungle gym area for parents just wanting to get their kids out and away from the distractions of technology! The scenery of the park is beautiful during all the seasons too! My neighbors are mostly retired but enjoy getting together with everyone of their neighbors to mingle. The location is amazing as well! I am two miles away from work and just a block away from Bardstown road where there are plenty of restaurants and business to keep me full and entertained!... Current Resident: My wife and I are in our early 30’s, and we’ve lived in Clifton for 4 years. It’s the perfect mix for a quaint yet lively neighborhood. We love the location. We can walk/bike pretty much anywhere: downtown, waterfront, big four bridge, Frankfort Ave, Bardstown Rd, the highlands, etc. Amazing local restaurants and eclectic shops. People are friendly. Close to Cherokee park and good schools. Lots of things to do: hiking, biking, music festivals, etc. Great place for young professionals and starting a family. Pretty affordable cost of living too.... Read 20 reviews

Parent: The Admissions department made the application process seamless. They were easy to reach; gladly returned phone calls and inquiries; and, assisted with the application process during each step. Compared to other independent college prep institutions, RMA is a small school. However, we were thoroughly impressed with the diversity that we saw during the summer camp program; We were pleased to see that it carried over to the academic year. The curriculum is rigorous. The staff is caring. There are a variety of extracurricular activities that are day and boarding inclusive. Any family "on the fence" about RMA should definitely consider a second look, or reach out to staff. You'll be glad you did!... Read 169 reviews

Parent: A special place in Louisville: if you have children check this out! Not only does Francis Parker offer a great education with amazing faculty; the experience is tailored to the child's age. Goshen campus for pre-school - middle school, is a beautiful, natural setting that incorporates the outdoors into the learning experience. The high school is located downtown, easy walking distance to museums, 4th street live, Kentucky Center for the Arts, and much more. It is wonderful that teenagers can learn our city. Wonderful opportunity to engage with the community through the arts, through service, through day to day explorations and collaboration. Beautifully designed interior of the historic building. Rigorous academic environment and great college placement. Come check out the classes and it will feel more like college than high school. With small class sizes & awesome faculty it's a wonderful place to learn and be yourself! My four kids loved their experience at Francis Parker!... Read 64 reviews
