Current Resident: Living in Oconee county provides me with a sense of security. The people are outwardly nice; although the children and teens of this county can be described as self centered. The schools provide us with excellent education, but they drill it into the kids’ minds that they have to take rigorous classes and go to the best universities. It’s overwhelming and many students fall into burnout. If you live in Oconee your and your family have money; that or you lived in the area before it blew up. I am of the lather. Current Resident: We moved here from Gwinnett County in Metro Atlanta three years ago and the quality of life is much better in many ways. The county has plenty of parks and green spaces and includes Lake Lanier and the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains. The schools are the best in Georgia and the county is much safer than Atlanta. The people have also been extremely welcoming. Medical facilities, plenty of shopping and diverse restaurant options are readily available. They are in the process of building an amphitheater near the square in Cumming and there are NoFo and Cherry Street microbreweries. I'm glad we purchased when we did as home values are escalating fairly dramatically. As I no longer have to commute to Atlanta, the major drawback has been a non-factor. We love it!... Current Resident: I love Columbia I have lived here all my life. It is the best place to live in my mind. There are a lot of place to go shopping. There parks for kid and skate parkes, there is a lake in Columbia county that is connected to lot of counties in Ga and south carolina. There the lady A amphitheater where made come to play at because they are from here. The sheriff department is the best sheriff department you can have especially since Columbia SWAT was the first SWAT to certified by national organization In Ga. I forgot what organization it was. Current Resident: One of the best counties to live in metro atlanta with family. Greatly diverse, safe and affordable. best public schools of atlanta are in gwinnett county , new developments are in plans, great road infrastructure available around. Multiple highway across to help you reach Cummings, Alpharetta, Marietta, Atlanta airport much faster than internal roads. everything is available around. All major stores in georgia are available in 5 mile radius along with some great restaurants and food chains to place of worship. Current Resident: I live in the south part of Houston County. Everyone's basic needs: food, clothing, shelter, etc. are easily accessible. Farthest drive in the town is about 20 minutes. Although Houston County isn't like the city, during the work rush hours traffic is very bad. Traffic is the one thing I wish was better, but there are back roads as well to avoid it. I would like to say my neighborhood is very safe. Everyone pitches in to keep it looking nice and it's safe with the cameras at the front entrance and around the light posts. Current Resident: I like Glynn County, but crime has gone way up lately and it doesn't feel safe anymore. Also, there is a huge mix with rich and poor and it just doesn't mix well. There also is a lot of politics put into everything here, most of these things that I feel are wrong. The school system is fine, rather strict in my opinion, and there is a variety of private schools. There is a lot going on all of the time, though. Current Resident: Moving to Dekalb county in 2005 was one of the best decisions I ever made. Just around every corner, there is a unique jewelry store, clothing boutique, specialty restaurants, museums, and or parks. I enjoy numerous outdoor festivals. Imagine you do not have to drive eight hours away to Louisiana to attend a Mardi Gras Parade. Just head to downtown Decatur in March with a heart full of joy and mouth full of cheer. Every year there are Art, Jazz, BBQ, Blues & Bluegrass Festivals to Tree Lighting, and everything in between. DeKalb County is very progressive and in a constant state of revitalization. There is always an eat, work, and live community construction projects, new housing areas, or various beautification projects in progress. DeKalb County is known for having some of the best public schools and universities in the state. Current Resident: Lowndes County is a small town in South Georgia where everyone knows everyone. The school mascot is the Vikings! We have a pretty good sized high school with a pretty good sized band, about 500 members. Not only in Lowndes county but also in Valdosta, we are big into sports, the town pretty much shuts down when it's Friday night. Niche User: Morgan County is a small, close-knit community which is diverse, all-inclusive, safe, and spirited. I moved schools to Morgan County my seventh grade year and knew absolutely no one. I was scared and feeling insecure. I remember how devastated I was to leave my old school and I was even "plotting" to return to and graduate from my old school. However, overtime I met my best friend and my other friends as well as my boyfriend of two years. Now, I am a junior here and I love this county more than anything in the world. I have found my place here and I feel like I belong. Morgan County even helped me better discover my own identity - what makes me, ME. Niche User: I have been attending school in Douglas County since I was in the third grade. I love how Douglas County keep improving. There are redoing the streets, tearing down old buildings, and new businesses continue to come into the county. Douglas County is perfect because it is very close to Atlanta and also close to Six Flags. While, the surrounding major cities have exciting places, so does Douglas County! Douglas have Jump and joy, Farmers Market, and Thunderzone. I would like Douglas County to create more schools because the schools are becoming crowded. There is only five high schools in the county.
