Current Resident: There are many mom and pop shops in the local area, and many of them are artistically pleasing to visitors from all over the US. Every year there is a festival and all the college students from the area treat themselves to great entertainment and beautiful views on the beach. I would like to see bigger name branded stores in the area, especially for how busy the downtown area can get during the warm seasons. All year long there are job openings and the cost of living is just outstanding from any place i have ever lived. The schools here are very up to date and allows parents to flexibly get involved with their children's learning. Overall, it is an amazingly peaceful place to live.... Read 16 reviews

Current Resident: Benzie is a beautiful little county with all the best memories I have ever made. It's far from perfect but I would not trade growing up here for anywhere else. I would have never met the people I have now and I would have never known now how hard it would be to leave such a small town when it's time. I love the fact that it's a small community and It makes meeting people easier, and your always looking for some type of adventure since there is not much to do around. The only downside, is that being a small town, everyone knows everyone. A lot of people know of you and already have heard things about you, and this makes it hard to find new friends at times. There was also always a parent and student drama which can be very toxic. Benzie may have a few flaws but for the most part, the community, friends, memories, scenery and just the feeling of this hometown makes me wish I could do it all over again one more time before I graduate.... Midland also has great soccer complex, community center, as well as Country Club for people to get involved in the community. Current Resident: I have lived in Oakland County for almost my entire life. I feel very safe an at home here. People are friendly and helpful. There is few cases of crime. And overall it is very family friendly. But I do notice that Oakland County is overly Caucasian in terms of diversity. But in the past few years more African Americans and other ethnicities have been moving in. The cost of living is fairly high, and real estate can be crazy expensive due to several properties being located near or next to lakes. Another problem are the road conditions. Due the harsh and unpredictable winters in Michigan, the roads are in very poor condition. Mainly pot holes are a huge problem. Recently the governor has pushed the need for fixed roads, but only the main roads are being fixed. But this is my home, and I hope other residents also think that way.... Read 32 reviews

Current Resident: I have been living in the city of Kalamazoo for the past eight years and it is a wonderful small town to raise a family. I appreciate the staff members at the local public schools that my children attend and believe they are doing a good job. The city holds several events including festivals, fairs and parades every year for holidays and special events that every resident in the city of Kalamazoo and surrounding areas can enjoy. My favorites have to be RibFest that comes along at the beginning of August in downtown Arcadia as well as the Pride Parade in the month of June. My children especially enjoy the Kalamazoo County fair where they can ride their favorite rides and eat their favorite fair foods.
