Niche User: I have had an amazing experience living in Torrance. I've lived in Torrance for most of my life and I have met many nice people. Going to school in Torrance was the best school experience I have ever had. When I first went to Madrona Middle School, I was greeted by many nice and respectful students. I have also met very nice teachers who were always there to help me when I needed help. When I transitioned over to high school, it almost felt like I never left middle school because the students are very nice and caring. Torrance will always have a special place in my heart when it comes to making friends and having an education.... Read 317 reviews

Former Resident: Pasadena is a beautiful town with great people. There are a lot of great historical buildings to admire especially near Old Pasadena. They do a great job of preserving their culture and history! The downside to that is that some apartment buildings around town are starting to show their age quite a bit. If you can get past that though, there's so much going for Pasadena. The restaurants are all AMAZING. So diverse and so high quality. There's lots of specialized grocery stores for whatever kind of cuisine you cook. The people here are some of the friendliest I've ever met. It really has all the amenities of a big city but with small town vibes. People will smile and say hi to you on the street. People remember you around town and genuinely care about how you're doing. If the cute historic charm of Pasadena doesn't win your heart, the people there definitely will.... Read 282 reviews

Current Resident: Not only was I born and raised in Thousand Oaks (husband as well), I’ve raised my 5 kids here! The schools are excellent, sports programs are top notch, great training facilities such as Mamba Academy, tons of community events organized Conejo Parks and Rec, a teen center, a senior center and a large city library. Surrounded by the beautiful Santa Monica mountains, there’s plenty of hiking trails that are especially beautiful in the late winter/early spring and close to the beach. The weather is nearly perfect! Not nearly as hot as the San Fernando Valley, yet you get nice cool ocean breezes in the afternoon. It was lacking diversity when I was growing up but that has changed in recent years. It’s still very safe although some LA crime is starting to creep in. Luckily we have a very proactive police department that takes crime and homelessness seriously. We absolutely love it here!... Read 366 reviews

Current Resident: We love living in Burbank! It is a small-town vibe in a place that is the headquarters for some of the world's most well-known media companies. Burbank's municipal services are independent from the city of LA. The schools are highly rated but teachers are poorly paid. As the teacher shortage continues, I am sure that we will lose good teachers to higher-paying districts.... Read 346 reviews

Current Resident: I’ve only lived in Glendale for about 8 months, and I love it! It’s the perfect spot in between all of my work locations and I’m within a 20 minute driving distance to most places in LA and Hollywood. As a single female, I find Glendale to be a safe location to live. I haven’t felt uncomfortable in any neighborhood I’ve visited within the city. It’s also the perfect transition spot for someone moving to a big city that comes from a rural or suburban area. I’m from Alabama and definitely think that if I had chosen to live in Hollywood or DTLA I would be way too overwhelmed with all the changes!... Read 225 reviews

Current Resident: In my experience, Temecula offers a great balance of scenic beauty, warm weather, and high-quality education. The city is known for its picturesque wine country and has a reputation for being a safe and clean place to raise a family. The schools in Temecula are excellent and provide a wide range of options for families with children of all ages. The city also boasts a low crime rate which gives a peace of mind to the families. Additionally, Temecula offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities and entertainment, with many parks and recreational areas, as well as cultural events and venues. Plus, its proximity to major cities like San Diego and Los Angeles provides additional options for education, entertainment, and career opportunities. Overall, in my opinion, Temecula is an ideal choice for families seeking a high-quality school district and a well-rounded community... Read 520 reviews

I was born and raised there, played Little League, arena roller hockey, studied karate, spent time in CHOC, went to school, graduated from Villa Park High School, attended Santiago Canyon College, listened to the Fenians and the American Wake on Irish Street at the International Street Faire, tasted any number of craft beers at the new breweries and pubs and dined at almost all of the restaurants in the Plaza. Current Resident: Long Beach is an incredible place to live and raise kids, and is kind of a hidden gem tucked in between LA and OC. The best things about living here in no particular order are: fabulous parks; tons of diversity in people, neighborhoods, architecture, events, and activities; friendly and welcoming people; reasonable home prices (by SoCal standards); wide variety of schools with the ability to go outside your neighborhood in order to access magnet programs, such as art or math & sciences; incredible restaurant scene; tons of civic, entertainment, and community events; generally informed and involved population; natural beauty at the beach and at the El Dorado Nature Center; great mix of local and chain stores; and tight-knit neighborhoods with people who care for one another. The downsides are an increase in homelessness (as is true literally everywhere); risk of petty crime (and the very occasional violent crime); not as much access to nature as less urban areas; some iffy schools.... Current Resident: The beach is five minutes away from midtown, who doesn't love the beach? The weather is on average around the 70's during the spring and early summer. The temperature rarely goes above 85 degrees. But when it does, the beach is a few minutes away to help cool off and relax. There are a lot of other fun places to visit. Such as Grant Park Cross, where there is a view of the city along with the ocean, a great place to have a picnic while watching the sun set or to take nice pictures! The city is clean and has a lot of trees and greenery. Downtown is also a good place to get good food, I recommend Rice by Mama, which is Thai food. There are also cute boutiques downtown as well as thrift stores. There is also an art museum downtown. Overall, Ventura is a beautiful small city for a beach vacation.... Read 180 reviews

Current Resident: Los Angeles offers a very diverse environment and is a great tourist destination. It has amazing beaches and shopping districts, a multitude of job opportunities, beautiful nature scenery, and other entertainment opportunities. I especially enjoy the sunny weather and the various cultural restaurants found throughout the city. The cons, however, include its high cost of living and heavy traffic. Going from one place to another takes an additional 10 to 15 minutes because of busy intersections and one-way roads. People end up homeless or are forced out of the community they grew up with. In addition are the unsafe hours and the various crimes that occur throughout the city, all of which have made it hard to enjoy the entire experience.... Read 1,755 reviews

Current Resident: The overall experience that I have with living in riverside would be about a four star rating. I give this rating because how well the community bands together. Another reason why I enjoy Riverside is that there is a lot of activities to do in the county. Such as food, events, fairs, farmers markets, bowling, and sports.A big reason I did not give a five star is because of how many homeless people have shown up to Riverside and how much trash they leave. We as a community are trying to keep the city clean , but it is a struggle trying to keep up with the litter. Other than that, I love living in Riverside!... Read 620 reviews

Current Resident: Downtown Santa Ana is lively with several entertainment options, from movies, drag brunch, clubs, and bars, to a monthly art show, & street festivals. The entertainment options are quite eclectic, catering to everyone. There are restaurants and markets within Santa Ana that offer culturally diverse foods, making shopping and dining options more plentiful and varied. I live near the border of Santa Ana and Costa Mesa, and my house is walking distance from lots of great spots! I can walk to South Coast Plaza (a large mall), the Performing Arts Center, and many restaurants and stores. With that said, the walkability of this area goes down because of the city’s homeless population and lack of mitigation of it. It does not feel safe, especially after dark, even though it is in a relatively nice area, and many other neighborhoods in Santa Ana are even worse. I hope something can be done about this as I don’t want to have to rely on my car as my mode of transportation so I can feel safe.... Read 489 reviews

Current Resident: Ontario is a welcoming city. I have grown up in it, and my neighborhood is peaceful and quiet. The shopping centers have all the necessities and almost everything is nearby. Most homes are in great condition and there is immense curb appeal at every corner. The community is sweet and tight-knit. The public schools all seem to intertwine as students mingle and interact, strengthening that sense of unity. Ontario has always been a safe place for me, greenery is in every yard and makes the soul relax. Furthermore, the community is diverse and appreciative of all cultures, this is especially prominent in the schools. Current Resident: I like in Oxnard where in times of struggles and harshness, the community manages to come together and help each other out. There are many organizations that help with community service, and help to support the citizens of Oxnard when needed. Many events happen here too, and it just makes the experience of growing up here much more wholesome. You basically grow up with the same people your whole life, and meet even more people throughout it as well. My favorite places (as a teenager) to visit here are The Collection, Downtown Oxnard where all the festivals and big events happen, and some other places as well. The schools are pretty decent for public schools. Depending on where you reside, there are different elementary, middle, and high schools to attend. I personally attend Pacifica High School, as it has a good reputation around here too. Regardless of where you do choose to reside here in Oxnard, it will always be made home to you based on the supportive community, and environment.... Read 594 reviews

Current Resident: Such a misunderstood city, San Bernardino is a city with a horrible story but it is filled with beauty. The community is constantly trying to better the place and serve as an outreach for those who need it. Although it is deemed as one of the most dangerous cities in the world, it is my home. San Bernardino is more than just gang violence and drug busts. San Bernardino is the city where kids become doctors, scientists, lawyers, but we're placed with this stereotype that everyone from this city is a nobody. Now this brings me to what I want to see change in, I would wish for people to not view those of my city as a subordinate to another just because of where they're from. San Bernardino is full of love which one can only experience by living here for so long, I am just one individual who knows this. We are many. We are San Bernardino.... Read 220 reviews
