Scottsburg has a wonderful community! Everyone knows each other; anywhere you go, everyone welcomes you. This small community is very warming and offers many opportunities- for the size of the county. Many of the schools are apple verified and receive scores of A's or above. Many students who attend these schools are very high achieving and accomplish great things, later in life. However, there are many health issues; such as the HIV epidemic. Scott County may not be the best in health ratings and teen pregnancy; however, the overall experience is grand.

I've grown up in Scottsburg and have developed a deep connection with the town. Though a deeper analysis can show that the town, though not as bad as other towns in the area, is filled with drug problems and those who don't have opportunities to make their lives better. Personally, I would like to see these things change in Scottsburg. It has the capability to be a wonderful place and I hope that one day it will be the beautiful place I have in mind.
Scottsburg is a nice city but the pay at local jobs could and should be raised. It takes two people in a household to hold down full time jobs to be able to pay their bills, yet leaves some families with very little or no entertainment funds. If there is a family of more than 2 it is difficut to budget in entertainment for children and puts a burden on the parents when having to pay to get into their children's ball games and to have the extra gas to make it to their after school activities. The people are friendly and work hard to provide for their families.
