I have been living in Schertz for about 12 years now, and would recommend it for any family living on the Northeast side of San Antonio. It is right in the midst of "the Forum" which is full of local shopping centers and restaurants including; Target, Ross, Bed Bath & Beyond, Chili's, Chipoltle, Chick Fil A, Macoroni Grill, Kohl's, Gamestop, and many others. There, of course, in convenient location an HEB and a few other restaurants. Crime rates are extremely low in this area and there are plenty of schools ranging from daycare, to middle school, even to high schools. Very beautiful houses with kid friendly parks and great people!
Schertz is a small but growing town, with many restaurants, corner stores, and others popping up and leaving. The town is spread out, so walking is almost impossible unless your destination is a gas station. Schertz is not walking or bike-friendly, so moving around requires a car or some kind of transport. Other than this small gripe, Schertz is a nice place to live. I moved into my neighborhood when it only had 1 other house, and I had the pleasure of watching it grow. It is a very nice place to live, with charming houses and good public schools.
Great Community. Safe place to raise a family with award winning and highly recommended schools ranging from Pre-K to High School nearby. Just a an excellent area to live in. Area offers opportunities to everyone as well. Very safe and people friendly, and the law enforcement is out constantly making sure everyone is watching their speed! Which is awesome because you see many kids from elementary to high school walking home without parent supervision. Speaks volumes to how well of an area it is.
