Scarborough is a wonderful place for kids to grow up and the schools are great! It is a safe town and only 10 minutes from Portland. In the other direction, Scarborough is only 10 minutes to several sandy beaches! The Maine Mall and hundreds of stores, theaters and restaurants are local. Its the perfect place to be. Close to the turnpike for commuting as well.
The schools are great, my neighbors are great, the town's public works take care of everything! We moved here about 3 years ago and are so happy. My children attend public school and are making great progress. One of my children receives special education services and we couldn't be more impressed with Scarborough Public Schools.
Living in Scarborough is very serene. If one is looking for a quiet, little neighborhood to settle then this place is one to consider. There's a nearby park for a nice walk with the dog and there's a skating area for kids who has interest on it. In addition, the police station is less than a five minute walk away. There's also a nearby trail if one wants to go to the marshes or see streams and walk a pathway in between trees. If ever the family wants to eat out, there's a diverse selection for eating out including Thai, Chinese, and Vietnamese restaurants
Scarborough is a quaint town to live in. The drivers are notably kind; every morning coming out of my street when there is traffic (there is a traffic light close by), it is not long before a car lets me turn and go in front of them. The education is notably good. The town has a park near its high school, numerous nearby pizza places, and many other convenient stores still without it being a city. I often cross over one of the Scarborough marshes, which is a good place for bird watching. One thing I would change would be, I wish they would finish road construction on Payne Road already!
Scarborough is an amazing town in which nearly everyone can fit in. There are many different sections of town, you have multiple beautiful beaches, hiking trails, storefronts, and many other attractions nearby. The location is amazing, being just a short drive away from the shopping center of South Portland and the historic Old Port. The school system is one of the best in the state, and the whole town is very family friendly. Scarborough is very large, so if you want more property but still want to be close to downtown, there are options that aren't that pricey in the west side of the town. Overall there isn't very many places that I would rather live, and I am proud to call Scarborough my home.
Scarborough is a wonderful community that has a great public school system. There is a good sense of community involvement and I have enjoyed growing up there.
It's a great neighborhood to live in because there's a low criminal rate among other things. It's very friendly with newcomers and it's a quiet town. Schools are good but I think it could be improved. I also would like to have a community sport center like a YMCA.
I loved Scarborough. It is close to everything and it the perfect combo of city woods and ocean. It is quiet, friendly, and affordable. The only negative is everything closes too early.
Lived there for 4 1/2 years, both children attended public schools. Great place to live, very safe. Good school system. Near the ocean, beautiful walking and biking trails. Only 90 minute or so drive down to Boston for the big city attractions, museums sporting events etc. My only suggestion for schools is that the student guidance counselor services could be better.
Scarborough is a great family-friendly town, with many neighborhoods filled with children and families. It has beautiful beaches, and is close to Portland for great food and night life.
Excellent schools, growing population, plenty of business and residential areas with variety among neighborhoods
Friendly people who have a lot to offer to the community. Lots of volunteer organizations and nice food place, especially Holy Donuts. Not a lot of diversity, but the people are always willing to accept diverse people into the community.
I grew up in Scarborough and my favorite part of the town is the community and the appreciation for the outdoors. The beaches, marsh, and fields are all beautiful places to spend time and fostered my appreciation of nature, which has led me to study environmental policy so that I can direct my career towards celebrating and conserving natural resources. The community in Scarborough has also impacted my life tremendously. My neighbors will do anything for one another and my childhood was so special because of them. I now have friendships and a passion that will both last a lifetime thanks to the caring, generous community of Scarborough.
Scarborough is a very safe suburban town. There are great beaches and trails to walk on. There and not a lot of restaurants, and there isn't really a town center. There is a very wealthy and well known school district.
Scarborough is a great town to live in . It is a growing community with the best of both worlds, sandy beaches or rocky ocean shore, a nice drive in the countryside, or the mountains an hour away
The police are kind people who work hard. There are fewer crimes here than some other places, but with more people coming in, there have been more issues than in the past
I really love this town, and although it's large, it doesn't feel like a real city with lots of people who don't interact. There are more people coming to live here, and there have been cases where programs at the schools were almost cut, but overall I'd say this is a nice place to live. It's beautiful, near beaches and the city, and it's relatively quiet.
