It's a small community where everyone knows and cares about others. It is a very homey environment. I recommend stopping by the Saxonburg Coffee Shop!
I absolutely love living in Saxonburg. After living in Pittsburgh my entire life, I was so happy to leave the hustle and bustle of the city to relocate to the laid-back farm life here. The area is mostly rural, but the small town has many local businesses on Main Street, including a coffee shop, a gym, Dollar General, and many others. Larger businesses like Walmart and Giant Eagle are only about a 20 minute drive. Everyone here is so pleasant and friendly, it is easy to feel at home instantly in Saxonburg.
I lived in Saxonburg my entire life and being at college now I couldn't have been more blessed of having the privilege of growing up there. With a population of around 1,500 people, it is a very warm and loving community where everyone knows everyone. Friday nights in the fall the whole town attends the Knoch High School football games, cheering on the boys and coming together to catch up with one another. Nothing is better than talking with your friends and peers, bundling up from the cold but warming up with a cup of hot chocolate while cheering on the team. Another great time of year is the summer. We hold the largest Fireman's parade east of the Mississippi. It's also the same time that the carnival is in town. It's the perfect way to start your summer and the warm months ahead. There may be larger towns with more places to shop and restaurants to eat, but Saxonburg is one of those rare places where you can either stop by or stay, and will truly feel like you're at home.
