I have lived in the small town of Santa Maria, California my whole life and I couldn't imagine calling any other place my permanent home. All of my destinations are conveniently less than 20 minutes from my home (school, work, friends, and relative's houses) with little to no traffic. Not to mention that Central Coast living is great for the consumption of fresh produce and for visiting one of my favorite places in the world, the beach! Everything about my city is welcoming, and with local innovations rising, members of the community are always working together to build, and empower one another and make our city the best place to live.

I was born and raised in Santa Maria, California. I grew up on Northwest side of town, which is almost considered “the bad side”. As time evolves, Santa Maria has become less safe to walk home from school or take your eyes off your child in the park for 5 seconds. I grew up with the elotero, corn man or lady, that comes around daily. I grew mostly around a Hispanic neighborhood, which meant getting strawberries from our neighbor or hearing late night banda parties. The public schools today are teaching very well as many young students are not only learning English but also Spanish at Jimenez Elementary School.
Santa Maria has great weather year round averaging right around 70degrees. The neighborhoods are clean and you don't see litter like in the big city. And according to the travel channel it is considered to be the New Napa Valley with all the new vinyards and the wonderful variety of wines that they produce are of the highest quality. Not mention you can be chartered from winery to winery tasting the best of the local wines at inexpensive group rates. There are also at least 5-7 beautiful beaches, like Pismo & Shell Beach, that you can visit in a 20minute drive, or less. And TONS of activities, clubs, and sports teams for the youth.
