I like Sandy because it has provided me with a variety of opportunities. To start, the schools I have attended have all had good, committed teachers working to further my own education. Furthermore, I have many chances to to get active due to ski resorts being about 15-20 minutes away and easy access to trailheads. This combination of good educational opportunities and incredible outdoor access leads to a healthy lifestyle for those who choose to take advantage of it.
However, Sandy is severely limited in diversity. Similar to the state-wide trend, the far majority of Sandy belongs the Mormon church and white. Due to this lack of diversity, there is little understanding for those who are different. The lack of understanding and diversity creates a toxic environment for people who are not white, straight, or Mormon. Unchecked racism and homophobia runs rampant throughout the state and city, and for this to be a truly welcoming city, this must change.

Sandy is a great city to live in! It has a multitude of public parks, shopping complexes, good restaurants, and more. Sandy has a very suburban feel and a tight-knit community. It also has some of the most incredible views, with the Wasatch Mountain range right outside your window.
Sandy, an expansive city that rests just below the gorgeous Wasatch mountain range. Protected by such large mountains, you will always feel secure in Sandy. The people are courteous and an active government putting education first. Sandy's gorgeous mountains provides a variety of exciting outdoor adventures you can go on within the two canyons Little Cottonwood and Big Cottonwood canyon. I love to go backpacking and hiking up in these mountains and I love how they are only 10 minutes away. When it hits winter I immediately trade in my hiking shoes for skis and traverse in awesome powder across many runs found in the canyons. The atmosphere from the canyons to the city aren't any different. The people are warm and welcoming and offer help when you need it. Though it is a big city it also feels spacious and there is a lot of room to breathe. The schools reflect that and are big and impressive to look at. The educators there are friendly and are active in making the school better.
