San Marino is a very small suburban town near Los Angeles, CA. Its population mainly consists of Asians. The housing can be quite expensive, but the commute is extremely short. The people of San Marino are extremely welcoming and open minded individuals. The schools provide a great amount of education for incoming students as well! Overall, San Marino is a great place.
San Marino is well-known as a premier suburb with pricey mansions and "excellent" schools. The reality is, the residents and teachers here seem to think that the only things that matter in life are money, success, and status. If you seek support of and focus on creative expression, varying world views, or mental health, look elsewhere. San Marino is called "The Golden Bubble" by its residents for a reason. The residents here are completely insulated from the real world, with the goal of churning out future doctors, engineers, and lawyers.
Epitome of sheltered, curated suburbia — like walking onto the set of a Pottery Barn catalogue shoot or a Nancy Meyers movie (3 of 4 of her LA-based films have been set in San Marino) — with a whole lot of rules and gatekeeping to boot. Very safe, very quiet, very expensive.
