I have been a resident of San Luis Obispo California for 9 years. We have the beach, great hiking, and great weather all year round. There is a huge sense of community here. People out helping each other and those in need. I have never felt more safe and secure than living here in San Luis Obispo. SLO is a great place to raise a family. Lots of things for children to do and the school districts are great! I do believe that I have arrived home.

Having spent much of my life in San Luis Obispo, I love the area. My number one favorite thing about SLO is the nature. There's abundant hiking, open spaces, beaches, and even some nice camping spots in the area. The town itself is pretty quiet, with a pretty little downtown. Pre-COVID there was a bit of a nightlife, although most things other than bars closed early; now, of course, there's none to speak of. I love walking around the downtown and surrounding neighborhoods and admiring the beautiful Victorian houses. I would love to see more affordable housing crop up in SLO, as the area is ridiculously expensive in comparison to the job market. It would also be great to see Cal Poly's diversity improve, as it is the least diverse CSU. Despite this, SLO Creek and the beautiful mountains surrounding the town have my heart.
My experience here in San Luis Obispo has been wonderful. Everyone is super friendly, the weather is pretty much the same all year, and the farmer's market is easily the best in America. This town has so much to offer like a plethora of hiking and biking trails, the beach nearby, helicopter tours, and the very first Jamba Juice location! The one thing I would change about this town would be drive thru's. There are none! It would be nice to have a drive thru or an In-N-Out in the city limits. Other than that I have no other complaints about the town!
