It is a nice, family oriented town. I have worked at the local critical access hospital for 23 years. I love my coworkers and community. Being an ER nurse I have a great relationship with my local law enforcement. While there is not a lot of night time activity, there is a lot of family centered activities. We are 20 minutes from the beautiful Current River. Montauk state park is part of that. Not to mention lots of areas for hunting and fishing. Rolla, MO is only 30 minutes away and has many shopping areas. There is a beautiful city park with public pool. We also have a very nice bowling alley.
While I am planning on moving back to the Licking area (which is only 22 miles away) I will still work at Salem Hospital. My only reason for moving is I am a single mother of a 2 1/2 year old daughter so I am moving back on my family property. However, it is located 3 miles out of town towards Salem.

Salem is my hometown. Salem has started an excellent revitalization process to get the community more interested in its people, landmarks, history, and other interesting points to experience. I have grown up here and seen excellent changes the town is doing to grow and develop for continued long term, economic success.
Salem is a very small town in rural Missouri - it's a very religious town with very little diversity. The majority of the jobs in the area are located at least 30 minutes away, because of the lack of industry (and taxes) the school system leaves much to be desired. That being said, for the most part it's a very cute little town.
