Salado Reviews
Rating 3.86 out of 5 14 reviews
Really lacking good, cheap options to eat at, a convenience store that doesn't charge you an arm and a leg for everything, and generally just a little of everything. The town is actually really well kept. Unfortunately, as stated in another person's review, Everyone currently residing here is old, conservative, or both, so with that being a thing, there is a lot of really rude people who make the simplest tasks unbearable. If you're LGBT+ or not white, good luck, you have people here who actually believe the president controls gas prices. Salado is also falling victim to housing being added literally everywhere, so a lot of it's charm is about to unfortunately be gone.
I have lived in Salado since 2012 and I can say that it is a very small-minded community. It is commonplace for there to be nosy neighbors, many people can be rude. I would not recommend Salado if you are a minority of any type. There is also very little to do in the area. It is safe.
It's a small but quaint town, most ideal for people that are retired or like the village life. It was nice to grow up there, but as a teenager it could get boring sometimes. It would be nice if there were more shops and places to eat downtown, but I know that they are installing sidewalks and improving Main Street. It is very convenient to be right on I-35. Life there is much more expensive to live there, but you do gain security, safety, the quiet, and a good academically competitive school system. I wish the nightlife was more diverse, but if you're over 21 there are a couple bars and occasional live music and concerts either at the brewery or Johnny's.
