It's a small but quaint town, most ideal for people that are retired or like the village life. It was nice to grow up there, but as a teenager it could get boring sometimes. It would be nice if there were more shops and places to eat downtown, but I know that they are installing sidewalks and improving Main Street. It is very convenient to be right on I-35. Life there is much more expensive to live there, but you do gain security, safety, the quiet, and a good academically competitive school system. I wish the nightlife was more diverse, but if you're over 21 there are a couple bars and occasional live music and concerts either at the brewery or Johnny's.
Salado is currently occupied by a bunch of very old, conservative people - it is mainly a retirement community with shops and bed/breakfasts thrown in. It is starting to change and more younger families are starting to move in to escape the sprawl of Austin.
Salado is a small, quaint town. It is mostly known for its golf courses and the annual Christmas Stroll. There are no stoplights, only a hand full of restraunts, but it is becoming more developed.
