Saco is but a quick hop on the I-95 away from Portland and ten minutes away from Maine's beautiful beaches. We have the best public schools in the immediate area. Downtown traffic is a nightmare during the summer due to a huge influx of tourists, but that's great if you happen to own a gift shop!
I have lived here my whole life, and I don’t really have any complaints. It’s a smaller town, but there is still a lot of things to do, and a lot of different businesses, including restaurants, grocery stores, banks, stores, etc. I have always felt safe here, and I’ve loved living in Saco!
Growing up in Falmouth with my father working in Biddeford, Saco used to be a place I simply passed through from time to time, occasionally to visit Old Orchard Beach or Funtown Splashtown. Last November, I moved into a condominium in Saco as part of a family agreement for me to have a place to live while I complete my bachelor's degree at USM. I've found Saco to be much more accessible with much more to do than where I lived prior, in Falmouth. There's a wide variety of options in terms of eateries and it's a very family-friendly town in terms of both activities and relative safety and cleanliness. So far, I've been very satisfied.
