Ruston is not your typical small town home it is extraordinarily and welcoming to all cultures. Ruston welcomes new ideas with open arms, and because of this Ruston's population and businesses are flourishing and more job opportunities are beginning to open up. Being the hometown of Louisiana Tech University we take pride in the international students that share their cultures with our community. Another advantage about this town is our downtown luxuries and activities. Downtown Ruston hosts our famous Peach Festival, concerts, Tech Bulldog pep rallies, and local church outreaches. Along with those exciting activities many popular restaurants as well as boutiques can be found in the downtown area. There is not much I would change about this joyful hometown because it is a prideful home to many. Even though many seniors venture off to different places after high school this is where they return so that their children may also call it their home.

This little town has the best of both worlds! One minute we can have a peach festival where thousands of people crowd downtown, and the next day it can look like a warm place to come back home for the holidays. The atmosphere of Ruston is great due to the college in town. I feel as if the town is very safe as well as a great place to start a family.
I have lived in Ruston, Louisiana for the majority of my adult life. It is a quiet town that is great for raising children, other than the fact that there isn't a wide array of entertainment options. The stores in the area are, for the most part, clean. The city has a wide variety of restaurants, from small holes in the wall to large chain venues. The overall atmosphere is pleasant. I plan on staying here once I am finished with school to continue raising my son. The schools themselves are decent, and have plenty of activities for the kids. The only downside is there isn't a whole lot going on here at any point in time. Unless you are going to a sporting event or a small bar you have to make your own fun.
