Ruddell Township Reviews

The police are extremely visible here because, as the county seat, Batesville hosts the city police department, the county sheriff's office, and state troopers in a town of approximately 10,000. The city police department was recently created, and it seems like police response has improved since then, but I would guess that most residents outside of city limits would disagree with that statement. Just like any other town, there are areas of varying crime prevalence. Despite living in the "high crime" areas, I personally have never been involved or even witnessed criminal activity, so I would say it's not so bad. The town also hosts the county jail and plenty of probation officers, so there's a significant number of people with criminal histories residing in the area, though those people aren't necessarily dangerous to others.

This is not someplace I chose to stay. It's more like I've landed here, and I've come to terms with it. Batesville has its perks. Life doesn't happen so fast as in the city, but there's more to it than the average rural community. There's a movement in the city to revitalize the historic value of downtown, to breathe life in the city. Progress is here. But at the same time, it's stereotypically rural. There's a lot of ignorance, poverty, and lack of opportunity. Just like anywhere, it has its pros and cons.
