Royalton Township Reviews
I've lived in Royalton Twp for 13 years and in Berrien County my whole life. I cannot imagine a better place to raise my children. The area has very low crime and *excellent* schools. There are beautiful, clean parks and beaches nearby. Many stable employers in the area. A possible drawback is that St. Joseph is not known to be very diverse; however, diversity has been growing in the past several years as Whirlpool attracts families from all over the world.
Living along the shores of Lake Michigan can be beautiful in the summer and the fall. The summer and fall produce is wonderful! The downfall would be the long winters, lack of employment opportunities, lack of independent restaurants, and lack of entertainment.
Lake Michigan and the beaches are the biggest draw for tourists. We are also host to many festivities like the Krasl Art Fair, Summer Jam (outdoor country concert), monthly outdoor antique shows, farmers market on the weekends, beautiful carrousel near the beach and a splash pad/fountain. Outdoor movies throughout the summer near the beach are another highlight. Downtown still has a few cobblestone streets, many shops and horse-drawn trolley rides. Winter activities include a "Reindog Parade", Luminary Festival and an ice carving festival. The last 2 years we have had the downtown shops have their storefront windows come to life with live mannequins and themed windows.
