Growing up in Rowland Heights for much of my years has been quite an adventure.
For many non-locals, it's a small town known for the deluge of asian restaurants that litter its plazas and streets. For locals, it's simply home made convenient. Visiting? Head off to the local Thai restaurant, Banana Bay, during their Happy Hour for cheap tasty drinks! If you prefer something more Korean, check out Blossom on the other side of the plaza.
Off the corner of a freeway entrance and a restaurant-stacked plaza, you'll find Schabarum Regional Park. It's a wonderfully large park complete with well-maintained hiking trails, dog parks, and playgrounds alike. On the opposite end of the town, you'll find Pathfinder Park— a smaller park with a recreation center, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, and fields. Between these two parks you'll find even more parks. Many parks.
It's a nice (asian/hispanic) mixed community and a welcoming neighborhood.

Rowland is a great place to live! For families, there are plenty of clean and safe parks for children to play and highly rated public schools as well as some private school options nearby. For singles, there is a great abundance of restaurants, think the best sushi, hot pot and know you’ve ever had, shops, movie theaters, and other entertainment. If you’re a natural lover like myself, there are plenty of hiking/running trails within the beautiful hills of Rowland Heights.
It is a very friendly city in LA County. There are lots of restaurants, ranging from Chinese to Italian. There is also a mall close by called Puente Hills Mall. Grocery shops range from Stater Bros., to 99 Ranch Market, to 168 Market. There are also many little shops, such as Daiso. Rowland Heights has many schools from elementary, to middle, to high school! However, driving experiences were overall not that great. Many people drive harshly and speed. They also are not careful. Rowland Heights is known to be a very, very crowded city.
