The weather is a big factor here because we have a lot of farming that goes on in the community. So alot of people pull together to resolve any weather problem because it is a chain effect. The weather effects the crops which effect farming which is what our community is all about.
Most of the people that live here have grown up here and are very friendly. Community events towards recycling is not very frequent we have to drive to another town to recycle anything.
All the people in this area know each other pretty well because we were all born here and grown up together.
You better have a car if you want to get somewhere. The nearest Wal-Mart is twenty minutes to thirty minutes away along with only necessary places. The nearest airport is like two and a half hours from here. I don't even know where you can get on a passenger train.
There is little to no crime at all in the area and I think everyone here feels completely safe. With that being said there is no need for a neighborhood watch organization, plus we are so small of a town that it just seems pointless. The police are friendly and you can see them around often, same with paramedics.
We are a tight-knit community, just like a family. We all know each other. Not many people at all know of our town, it is just a passing through town. You could blink and miss it almost.
There aren't too many job opportunites here that people want. I have found a job that I love but I know some others that have to travel pretty far daily to a job that they are only content with.
Housing here has its good side and bad side. Some houses look well-maintained and the owners are proud of their property but other houses look unkept and abandoned, which some houses have been abandoned. A lot of the properties here have nice looking lawns though.
If you want to work out or have your laundry done professionally then you need to drive another twenty minutes out of town to do so. We have plently of places to get your hair done. There are some more options of restaurants/bars down the road about ten minutes. We only have one gas station and only a few automotive repair shops. The bare necessities are here.
For our small town, it is the bare necessities. We have grown up with only a Casey's General Store and maybe one or two overpriced resturants so we make do with what we can.
