I've lived in Rosendale my whole life and I love it here. The small town experience is one that shapes who you are and I'm so blessed to have grown up in such a safe and loving community. Everyone knows everyone and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Rosendale is a small town. Everybody knows everyone, and everything is revolved around the high school and its activities. Nothing can remain a secret for long, so don't plan on doing anything stupid. The cops are known throughout the state. Everyone knows to slow down in Rosendale. The gas station even has t-shirts that say: Rosendale Just the Ticket.
This bucolic rural community cloaks a national disgrace. Rosendale has long been recognized as one of the nation’s longest running and most notorious organized speed traps. Attend any of their weekly ‘production-line’ traffic court sessions and you’ll get a handle on just how institutionalized and finely tuned this revenue machine is. Their hired legal guns are well versed in the art of negotiating points reductions or even the complete elimination of the ‘moving violation’ status in exchange for payment steeper fines to generate revenue. The corner gas station sells t-shirts that proudly proclaim, “Rosendale, just the ticket!”. Sadly, in a community of this size, the finger of shame must be pointed at, and well beyond, the locally appointed. The entire community is and has been complicit in this highway shake down for many, many years. Recommendation: Drive around this community. By your fuel, coffee and food elsewhere.
