Rome enjoys a decent selection of cultural events and visitors. Rome is proud of its history and enjoys displaying notable landmarks and neighborhoods. In addition to the largest college campus in the world (Berry College), Rome is also home to Shorter University, Georgia Highlands College, and Georgia Northwestern Technical College, and these higher education institutions bring young adults from all across the world to contribute to its diversity. In addition to local nightlife which includes live music every night of the week, downtown Rome is home to many locally-owned and loved restaurants which meet pretty much every taste and dietary need. Rome has also hosted major sporting events-- the home of the Rome Braves minor league baseball team, the 2017 ACC College Tennis Tournament, and various football, basketball, and marching band competitions. Rome is a family-friendly town with an emerging local renaissance and truly something for everyone!
I have lived in Rome all of my life. During this time frame, I have seen lots of positive changes in Rome. We now have 3 private schools, the public schools have grown in enrollment numbers, we have four colleges, and we now have a thriving and well-represented medical community with many specialists. When I was younger, you had to go to Atlanta to see a specialist, but now we have many different medical specialists, saving the trip out of town! We also have lots of shopping and restaurant choices.
