Working in Rolla
Rolla is a nice little place which greatest attribute is the university it has. That is Missouri University of Science and Technology. There are not many people on the streets. Nightlife is solid for students because they have many fraternities and sororities. But, for people who are not students, nightlife is very poor. There are nice neighborhoods and good people in them. Downtown Rolla is very small and does not look like a downtown in bigger cities. There is no main square or park. There are not many things to do in Rolla. You can go for a walk through some forests, go to the swamps to chill out, movies, or the fugitive beach that is Rolla’s biggest attraction. That’s a great place to cool down over the summer and have some fun. Also, there is a theater that is a part of the university but still can be visited. Sports are not well followed in Rolla which is not good. A good place to go to college and a good place to live in if you prefer small places with not much going on.
Love the small town feel, but with access to a good hospital. Not much nightlife for locals, but several decent dining options and some nice additions to shopping have been recently added. Biggest drawbacks are the blighted areas in town (Hwy 72) , no historical buildings or homes , and no town square/center - most small towns have this and I miss it - kind of like going to the beach without the sand and sea - something is missing I guess they didn't think that was important.
Rolla is a safe community with so much natural beauty surrounding it! You really get that small town vibe with kind of the bigger city vibe! Rolla is very clean, affordable, and beautiful. We have Univeristy of Missouri-Science and Technology here, so that is unique to Rolla in itself. Rolla takes such pride in our high school, and supports the high school very well. Rolla is a great place to raise a family, work, relax, and have fun!
