Rodeo is still very poverty stricken; although some exterior changes have been made, it doesn't cover up the vicious cycle that the housing developments have encouraged. People get stuck on a fixed income and when trying to better their situation by getting higher-paying jobs, they no longer receive assistance to further their success. I feel that this kind of issue is present in a lot of places, but I grew up here and have experienced it firsthand.
Rodeo is a working class Bay Area town. One of the last ones left. It's nice to see some places haven't been completely transformed by the recent tech boom. Rodeo is the type of place where what you see is what you get. Nothing more, nothing less. The Phillips 66 Refinery dominates the skyline. The western half of Rodeo is older, and a little run down. the eastern half is newer, a little further from the refinery, and has nice views in the hills; typical of Bay Area towns.
I am currently a resident of Rodeo, CA. It is a small city right next to Hercules and Crockett. Overall, it is a nice and quite area depending on where you live.
