I grew up in Rocklin and I believe it was a great, family-friendly place to live as a young child. There tons of great activities to partake in with your family and friends, such as going to the water park, mini-golfing, bowling, attending seasonal fairs, and a gigantic mall with a large selection of stores. There are many local parks just minutes away from the neighborhoods that are very clean and safe, as well as lots of nature surrounding them. The neighborhoods are very safe and some even have gated communities. However, there is not a lot of diversity in the culture of Rocklin and when you venture out of Rocklin you would be surprised at how unsafe or different the reality of most communities is. Although, it does have the benefit of being safer for children and families. The only other negative factor of living in Rocklin would be affordability because if you have an average income, it is hard to find an affordable house that is big enough for a family.
Having lived in several different cities, I can honestly say that Rocklin is one of the better ones. Driving around the streets and neighborhoods, you can see they are maintained, clean, and the landscaping is always well tended to. The roads are smooth and painted to clearly see lines, etc.. The parks I have visited are always clean and appear to be well kept. The schools are highly rated. There are many community activities throughout the year. I walk in the morning and night and have always felt safe. Everything, including medical care is a 10 minutes drive away-no freeways!
I really enjoy the community that Rocklin and the surrounding area has. I’ve grown up in Rocklin and have lived here my whole life- and the community is very welcoming and wholesome. It is family oriented, but I feel there are some shortcomings in inclusivity and acceptance of other views and cultures- especially among students. I am currently a student in a public school, and I think our schools are amazing for our state. The city itself is pretty moderate/conservative for California- but that depends on what school you go to our what neighborhood you are in. We have a lot of activities in the city and surrounding area, like the Galleria Mall and the city of Sacramento- but we are still lacking. We have a good Real Estate market, but houses are more expensive than surrounding communities. The general cost of livelihood is average, and many people commute to the Bay Area or surrounding cities for work.
