Rockland Reviews
Rating 4 out of 5 15 reviews
Rockland is a small city in beautiful mid-coast Maine. It's primary sources of income are hospitality, service based industries, small local businesses, and fishing as much of our market is tourist fueled.
Rockland does not have the feeling of a tourist town though, and has turned it's self into a hub for those who enjoy the local arts, offering many wonderful options for restaurants, cafes with live entertainment, galleries, and art house theaters.
Unfortunately much of the late night life options have shut down in recent years, especially since the pandemic hit and the options that stay open "later" still close around 9:00 and usually provide karaoke, trivia, or other entertainment on weekends.
Rockland is very friendly and the streets are relatively safe and secure, it's the type of place where you feel comfortable leaving your car unlocked and running for a few minutes while you run in a store during the winter months.
The public schools are great!

Rockland hosts art galleries, MULTIPLE dining options, clothing stores, furniture & home decor, salon & spa, book stores, pet stores, art stores, to name a few. Travel off of the 'strip' and you'll find a world class golf course & resort on the ocean that neighbors a lighthouse accessible by a 7/8mile breakwater! Cruise ships, farmer’s markets, and live music dominate summer. There are a number of local beaches both on the ocean and lakes. Hiking is available as well canoeing, fishing, hunting, camping, and sightseeing on schooners. Access to Maine's islands is also available year round multiple times a day through a scheduled ferry service transporting both persons and vehicles 20 miles to the island of Vinalhaven and North Haven. Rockland also has an attractive surrounding area full of livestock farms and state parks. In the winter, a local ski resort is open a couple towns over. This is a great place year round - in fact, I'm moving back rather soon as it's home to me.
Small city, lots to do, nice people, awesome places to eat out. Beautiful harbor. Lots of local hikes around and other cute towns to visit. Summer tourism destination.
