We moved to Rockford from Boston and while the town is quaint and cute, there is such a lack of diversity here. If you are looking for a small, everyone knows everyone, extremely conservative town, Rockford is the place for you! We are heading back East to give our children a well rounded, diverse life :)
I have lived in rockford my whole life and do not plan on moving ever! I have gained so many great friends at Rockford High School and will carry them with me forever. I have never not felt safe (no locking my car door right when I get in, no being scared walking alone at night). This town has so many kind people that would help out in case of an emergency. It is also so conveniently placed just 20 minutes from downtown GR and only a 40 minute drive to Lake Michigan! I can't forget to mention the unique boutiques located in downtown Rockford that are amazing!
Rockford is a very friendly town with much to do. You can meet new people every day! However, after living here for years I have run out of things to do, and activities become repetitive. It seems as if the highlight of Rockford now is to go get ice cream every so often and work all the time. There is also very little diversity in Rockford. The community is mainly white, and I would like to see a more diverse town.
