Working in Rockdale
Rockdale is centrally located to just about everything in Texas! It is a fabulous, safe town and great to raise your children. Given its location, you can enjoy the awesome small-town life and still be in close proximity of any big city need you may have. The history and sense of community that is in Rockdale is phenomenal.
Compared to other places in Texas. I find most small towns in the Milam county area to be very safe, friendly, and welcoming. They still have that "small town" feel, and aren't inundated with transplants (e.g. Austin, Dallas, Houston). It would be nice to see more development in this area, but again, the lack of development from outside big corporations is what preserves this place.
I would like to see the businesses renovate and become more inviting to passers by. In my opinion, the schools should provide classes that teach other foreign languages besides Spanish. The roads could use some improvements as well as the management of tax payers money. Thinking outside the box and coming to the realization that we are all people and equal would do this small town some justice.
