The Tanasbourne area is nice, it has almost everything you need within the two mile radius; restaurants, gas stations, auto repair, auto shop departments, home improvement department, salons, hospital, hotels, movie entertainment, and public transportation access. Within the ten mile radius of where i live, I have access to many great places; The Portland Metro! There are many great local shops like the salon/barber shop I go to is nice and affordable and I like to support the local businesses. Compare to the Great Clips is too costly for Men's hair cut for $14 to $16 when I can go to my local barber shop for $12. Another thing between local and business is the quality of service and the type of service you get. Yes Business sure show you great quality and standard services, but when it comes down to the Hair cut, the specialist won't cut your hair and send someone who is not skill to cut your hair and of course you get an uneven haircut. Yes, it is the same with local shops too, but it is to be expected.
Mediocre Jobs is what you'll find out here at zip code 97229, and most are more than ten miles away that are decent jobs. I would say that the area does have at least a job opportunity to earn some extra money or some money as a part-time job if you're going to college. Job's are more required to network to get an insider hook up to work somewhere that only require referrals. There are huge companies near by like Intel, Nike, IBM, Solar world, Triquint, and GenaTech. But they all require college degrees or a temp service company to staff you into the companies minor level on entree level position, it requires mostly many year of experience that you have to meet within the companies criteria.
There's a lot different restaurants coming out lately from the local and businesses from different states that has been franchised in the local community like the Noodle company, Mod pizza, Five guys, Veggie Grill, John's Incredible Pizza, and Panera Bread. What I like most about the area I live in is the local restaurants that are within a ten mile radius; Country Cruise in diner, Ventopia, Qdoba Mexican grill, and so forth.
