Rochester is a community close to nature where neighbors support each other, outdoor recreation is in the back yard - 91,650 acres of state forest to ride, fish, camp - and hard working farms out in the valley offer fresh produce or local wine - I recommend trying the garlic wine for cooking fresh seafood-its amazing! Most nightlife consists of community events featuring food or potlucks, gathering together in family friendly settings. If you are community minded, there are loads of volunteer opportunities where you can make a difference. Set midway between Portland & Seattle, traveling south to the Portland airport is the prettier drive - much more peaceful with less traffic to deal with. Excellent response time here for emergency services.
It's really small. I think 2000 people. No bus service way out here. The downtown is cute, but I wouldn't want to be around after dark. A few shops are closed down. One good thing, they just built another gas station by the freeway. Now we have 3! Oh boy!
I have lived in Rochester my whole life. So I have expereinced the town of Rochester as a young kid growing till the time as a adult now. I like how it's a small town and every body knows each other and supports each other. The schools in Rochester are pretty good, so I would recommend moving to Rochester anytime to a family. Some things I would like to see change in Rochester is having more things to do such as having more sit down restuarants and having a grocery store to shop at.
