Rio Linda is a rural but very active community. The local residents are very supportive of the local schools K1-K12, support fundraising events by giving donations for school field trips. My students are very involved in local events the students volunteer for the annual classic car show, county faire, farm and tractor days, food drive for the local food locker, and Christmas parade. In a two year period I have gotten to know many local civic leaders and organizers in the community.

Rio Linda is on the outskirts of Sacramento. It neighbors Del Paso Heights, which is not the greatest neighborhood and used to be filled with crime and gangs. People like to do doughnuts in the middle of the intersections and race their muscle cars up and down the streets. Many residents park old dead cars in their lawn and there is usually a couch or two abandoned on the side of the road.
What I've liked about Rio Linda is that everybody seems to know each other since I have played baseball at 10th and U Street nobody tends to really forget each other everybody is quite friendly. Rio Linda High School, is also something that is quite different and great in education, because there is many people that you meet and you'll start to see how Rio Linda isn't as small as you though with an enrollment of over 2000 students which is insane. What I wish that could change in Rio Linda, it would be more focused on the homeless over the years it seems to only get worse mostly, because down the road from the High School most of them live in the fields and they also move by the local 7 Eleven and shopping centers causing tension with others. But, I believe if people were to focus on giving them a chance in this world Rio Linda will be a much happier place to live.
