There is a lot of crime in Richmond and so I would like to see a crack down on crime; especially the minor home robberies in the Richmond Annex Area. Also, there could be more garden and green space for residents; such as along the Ohlone trail for children to walk to. We have too many fast food restaurants and there needs to be money poured into the poor areas of Richmond. There is a lot of graffiti and run down buildings and it probably makes the residents not feel so great to see this when they are walking around their town. The upside to Richmond is its proximity to El Cerrito, Berkeley, Albany, Oakland and San Francisco. All these East bay communities have a lot to offer for family life. Great choice of restaurants, movies, shopping in walking distance!

With all of the odds against Richmond, I still love it here. I was born and raised here. Yes, I agree, much needs to change but, Richmond is still a great city. Richmond is also very misunderstood, underestimated and a hidden gem. This diamond in the rough has a very rich history. In 1919, the city had the largest winery, four Richmond Shipyards and Martin Luther King, Jr. had planned to visit Richmond just prior to his assassination. Richmond may be a small city but, boy is it a beauty!
Diversity of Richmond is what’s attractive about the city. There are lot of pocket community throughout Richmond that has their own unique culture. The chevron refinery is a big health hazard although it brings lot of job to the city. Overall, I think Richmond is a inclusive community although we definitely do need better distribution of social economic statues.
