It definitely isn't the best place to live but it is a place. Richlands is not a very inclusive place due to it being a very small conservative town. But they are very friendly here, for the most part, and it is very family friendly. We have two parks and they are very safe. There are many many conservative, close-minded people here but there are a few who are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. This is an amazing town if you just find the right people. But be careful of the homophobes!

My family and I moved to Richlands nine years ago.
The population is predominantly active duty, or retired military and the farming community. We have witnessed a population swell with endless housing developments and the loss of countryside. Likely due to increases at Camp Lejeune as Cherry Point has been downsizing.
It is Republican held territory, people are mostly Christian and prefer to be seen as conservative. Gun ownership and hunting season are popular.
The culture here does not support a night life, hence one Mexican restaurant with a small bar and the town has a history of failed pubs.
Instead locals are accustomed to going for breakfast as a means to socialize, or attending church. People are friendly enough, though the accent is difficult to understand.
There is no scheduled bus or train service, though there is a local airport and various taxi companies.
Richlands is a small developing town and it will be interesting to see what it will look like in another 10 years.
Richlands is a quaint, peaceful town located just 20 minutes away from the US Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, and Jacksonville. Richlands consists of numerous subdivisions with single-family homes. The neighborhoods are safe, and very family-oriented with the heavy military demographic. However, the biggest concern is the education system, which lacks a solid foundation of faculty and technology to encourage a higher-learning experience, with more emphasis on athletics and extracurricular activities while disregarding academic rigor in STEM-related fields of study.
