Love the abundance of land, if you like rural living then this is definitely the place for you. There is a small town feel, even when you are downtown in Rhinelander. Sports and the Hodag mascot are really important to the community. The most important piece of the community is the Rhinelander Area Paper Company and just down the block Ripco Credit Union, whose name came from being a part of the paper company. It's a great tourist town or a place to settle down and retire.

A rather small town with not too much to do. There's a bowling alley and movie theater, but not too much else. The public schools leave something to be desired, for certain, but at least there isn't high frequency of murder. There does seem to be a little bit of a drug problem, but what town doesn't deal with that? Also, the weather can be a bit rough. It gets down into the negative 20's regularly, and the windchill makes it worse. In addition, most of the soil is rather sandy.
Rhinelander has raised it's game with newer bars, restaurants, and the Rhinelander Brewing Company all adding to the long list of attractions here. The Arts community is solid and growing faster too. Combine this with great schools and SO much outdoor recreation, plus low housing costs, it is a great place to live.
