Rensselaer is a simplistic small town in Northwest Indiana. Many people compare my small town to a Mayberry, everyone knows everyone. It's quite quaint and very quiet.
Rensselaer is a small town. Overall my experience in Rensselaer has been nevgitive. I’ve lived in this town for 6 years and each year I see more and more criminal activity. Drugs, more specifically meth, has become a huge problem for Rensselaer.
Rensselaer is a small cornfield of a town. It's full of conservative religious people but there is a strong sense of community here. Everyone loves to be involved. The local restaurants aren't so bad and the elementary schools (there are two) are top notch, I would avoid the middle and high school at all costs. The town is right along I-65 and this keeps the town alive. I would raise my kids here then move away as soon as they end their primary education.
