Love the school system! The community is relaxed. Residents place a high value on the natural environment. You can hike for 60 miles on open space and be to the best malls and dining within 15 minutes. 60 minutes door to door drive to mid-town, or you can take the train from Redding station going direct to grand central in peak hours. Takes a little longer but I read a book, or the morning paper, or get ahead on my email. So worth it!

Redding is a special part of not only New England, but the U.S. - it has a hometown feel with residents who are worldly, down to earth, and kind. Redding is a calm and peaceful place to call home, with access to all of the shopping and restaurants that Fairfield County and NYC has to offer. Easy trip to the mountains in NH, VT, and Maine. Great access to the ferry which can take you out to Long Island in about one hour. An ideal place for anyone who appreciates natures and culture.
It's boring, quiet, and green in the summer. The quiet is nice if you like that kind of place -- personally I appreciate it. The green, warm summers are rather lovely, if a little hot and afford a pleasant environment to many animals. If I'm being honest the boring part is quite bad, there really isn't a lot to do at all -- you have to drive to another town if you want a movie theater, shopping mall, any kind of shopping really. It's a nice town though.
